Razer is launching the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro esports headset for PlayStation and Xbox gamers today.

These products are riding on the reputation of the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro for PC, but they have been re-engineered for consoles to meet the demands of PlayStation and Xbox esports. The aim is to offer audio precision, vocal clarity, long battery life and comfort.

“The BlackShark headset is an icon among esports pros and hardcore gamers for a reason,” said Nick Bourne, head of Razer’s console, mobile and streaming division, in a statement. “Leveraging our position as the top gaming headset brand, we tuned these headsets for Xbox and PlayStation, working closely with pro gamers to refine the fundamentals of an esports class headset while introducing upgrades that we know highly competitive gamers are seeking.”

In collaboration with elite esports pros such as Hakis (Alliance) and Shotzzy (OpTic Gaming), the console editions of the BlackShark V2 Pro are fine-tuned to meet the demands of top-tier competitive console gaming. The PC version launched in 2023.

“The esports pros wanted something that was super comfortable,” said a Razer spokesman at demo at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. “They want something to have clear communication and flawless reliability. At 320 grams, this is the lightest headset in the console space for the price.”

The spokesman added, “It’s important for esports pros to feel the headset basically disappears when they’re trying to run their games. So it’s very important that we have the flow net memory foam ear cups.”

“We’re gonna have a standard sound EQ for movies, music game,” the spokesman said. “And then on top of that, we’re also going to have esports EQs loaded on for Call of Duty, Apex legends and Fortnite.”

HyperClear Super Wideband Mic

Featuring the Razer HyperClear Super Wideband Mic, the console editions maintain the high-definition, pro-level voice quality of its PC counterpart.

This next-gen detachable mic captures a high-quality level of detail in gamers’ voices through a wider frequency range of sound. As a result, chatter with teammates comes through clearly, with rich, natural tones. The headset is capturing an audio sampling rate of 32 kilohertz per second, compared to about 16 kilohertz in the market.

“This headset’s a game-changer: super light, insanely comfortable, and competition-ready—plus, the mic clarity is unbeatable; truly the definitive console headset for esports.” said Brandon “Dashy” Otell, professional Call of Duty player for OpTic, in a statement.

Complementing the industry-leading microphone is the BlackShark V2 Pro’s proprietary designed TriForce Titanium 50mm Drivers. Combining these titanium-coated diaphragms with esports players’ tuned and selectable onboard audio profiles allows gamers to experience audio clarity and pinpoint sound cues, creating a competitive edge, Razer said.

Pro-tuned FPS audio profiles and reliability

Razer BlackShark V2 Pro comes preloaded with game presets.

Tuned in collaboration with some of the top esports’ athletes in the world, gamers can experience the same audio as the pros do in competitive play.

The BlackShark V2 Pro for PlayStation and for Xbox comes pre-loaded with onboard sound profiles tuned for Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and Fortnite. Xbox Gamers can also adjust their game/chat audio balance directly on the headset, with no additional software required.

The headset is equipped with Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, an industry-leading 2.4GHz wireless connection that ensures high-performance, low-latency competitive play with sound that is synced to the game. With built-in Bluetooth and Razer’s SmartSwitch on-device control, gamers can switch between a 2.4GHz or Bluetooth connection on their headset.

Ultra-light design and comfort

Razer BlackShark V2 Pro for the consoles costs $200.

The BlackShark V2 Pro has an ultra-light design, weighing in at 320 grams (about 11.29 ounces). This lightweight build reduces fatique during gaming sessions, allowing players to focus on play.

The headband features a soft, pressure-free cushion crafted to provide optimal support without compromising comfort, even on marathon gaming nights.

Thanks to the passive noise cancellation of the plush memory foam ear cushions, gamers will be cocooned in a world of immersive sound, Razer said.

Console features

The BlackShark V2 Pro for console narrows the gap between console and PC gaming excellence by amplifying the best competitive features for pro gamers, Razer said.

It has long-lasting battery life (ranging from up to 48 hours on console and up to 70 hours on PC).
