Magic Machine and Bisonic Inc announced today that they’ve chosen Ronin as the new home for their fantasy MMORPG, Forgotten Runiverse. The game, which was created from the lore behind the NFT collection Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult, launches with a closed beta event on July 31, then a public gaming event in August. This is the latest piece of Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult transmedia, which includes a comic series and an upcoming animated show.

Forgotten Runiverse features several of the usual fantasy MMORPG gameplay features: Item crafting, PvE quests, PvP gameplay and form guilds together. The launch features a limited time release of the New Foundations pre-alpha event. Players will be able to mint gameplay rewards and build on plots. It’ll also introduce several dungeons for players to explore.

Trung Nguyen, CEO of Sky Mavis, the company behind Ronin, said in a statement, “The Forgotten Runiverse team has dedicated over three years to crafting a full MMORPG built for mass-market adoption that’s free-to-play on mobile and computers. The Forgotten Runiverse’s vision of building a game that enables the community to interact in meaningful ways through shared experiences, storytelling, and adventure resonates with the Ronin community. We are thrilled to see this genre and gameplay experience come to our community and welcome The Cult into the Ronin ecosystem.”

Bisonic cofounder Kata added, “While many companies are building the future of Web3 gaming, Ronin stands out by delivering the only successful blend of Web3 technology and community at scale – the perfect recipe for a successful MMORPG. Ronin is the true pioneer in Web3 gaming and the home of real gamers, driving impact through its token utility, daily active users, and the Ronin Effect. We’re very excited to have such a strong partner to bring Forgotten Runiverse to the market.”
