Senior Backend Engineer - Commerce Platform

The Subscriptions R&D team oversees the entire user journey on Spotify and ensures we engage with people in innovative ways, every step of the way. Our team grows Spotify’s audience by finding future listeners around the world and delivering the right value to them, at the right time. With research, product development, product design, engineering, and marketing all collaborating in one organization, we’re able to quickly create meaningful features and services for millions of people around the world, resulting in joyful, long-lasting relationships with Spotify.

The Phoenix squad owns the Orders and Fulfilment domains in the Spotify Commerce Platform, including multiple backend services and data sets that manage purchasing and provisioning flows for Premium and Audiobooks and other key areas. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to help build the next generation of our stack, including new services and data pipelines, unified checkout across commerce, and North Star domain model for current and future Spotify business models.

What You'll Do

• Own solution design and implementation of new capabilities end-to-end in Order Management System and Fulfilment services.
• Work on foundational entity data sets for new Commerce Platform Data Vision.
• Work on impactful company bets across many verticals, including Premium and Audiobook expansion and experimental mountain bets.
• Focus on operation excellence and building scalable, resilient, and efficient solutions.
• Experiment, learn, hack, grow, and have some fun (see country-specific policies for company recommended amounts of fun per year).
• This role has on-call rotation
  
  

Who You Are

• Experience building and scaling Java services on Google Cloud Platform.
• 5+ years of working experience in a similar role.
• Interest in data and data pipelines (we use Scio).
• Excellent problem-solving and fast decision-making skills with strong bias for action.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Comfortable driving engineering deep dives and workshops, as well as customer demos.
• Bonus: Experience with e-commerce or financial engineering domains.
