Formation Bio’s operational model, powered by technology, has already showcased the capability to conduct clinical trials much faster than traditional industry benchmarks. Curie.Bio a Massachusetts-based biotech investor came to market with $520m back in February 2023, seeing investments from GV, ARCH Venture Partners, and Leaps by Bayer. In it's latest investment pool it has grown by a further $380M aimed to nurture early-stage companies advancing towards clinical trials. 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁!❌ This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Chief of Staff who has worked closely with the CEO's of 2 biotechs that have been through numerous M&A's. Although this is great for the equity holders of the acquired business, what does this mean for the people who built the business through their dedication and hard work? (Not to discredit the founders) 𝗟𝗮𝘆-𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀! When the smaller businesses were acquired for their technology, there were no longer the requirement for the duplication of functions, this making a large portion of the existing team redundant. - There has been a lot of acquisitions so far in 2024 and a lot of new talent on the market. If you are searching for a new role and are struggling to get through the door, you need someone to fight your corner. Applying for a job is tedious and more frustrating when there is no response. Solution: Work with a reputable recruiter who can represent you to direct contacts in the areas you are pursuing a new position A good recruiter has direct access to hiring managers, putting you at the top of the 100+ applicants and ahead of the curve. - Double down on your specialties - Create a wish list of companies you are interested in  - Share as much information on yourself with the chosen recruiter  (Achievements, geographic preference, salary expectations, modality etc..) "Open for anything" is shooting in the dark and the chances are that the position you are going for is being applied to by someone who REALLY wants it and with the correct skillset. Clinical Trials Updates: Aurion Biotech receives Breakthrough Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy Designation in the same day for their ophthalmologic allogeneic Cell therapy Aurion Biotech achieved a significant milestone for its allogeneic cell therapy, AURN001. The FDA granted AURN001 both Breakthrough Therapy Designation (BTD) and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) Designation for treating corneal edema secondary to corneal endothelial disease. This marks a first for AURN001, becoming the first allogeneic cell therapy to receive both BTD and RMAT designations for this specific condition. These designations are crucial as they expedite the development and review process for drugs with promising potential to address unmet medical needs. Corneal transplants, the current treatment option, face limitations due to a shortage of donor corneas and require complex procedures. AURN001 offers a potentially more accessible treatment approach for millions of patients suffering from corneal endothelial disease. The safety and efficacy of AURN001 are currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial: a multi-centre trial enrolling 97 subjects across the US and Canada. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗞 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 🦠 Artiva Biotherapeutics raises $167M in an upsized RPO to advance its pipeline of autoimmune and cancer therapeutics. The majority of the IPO proceeds will finance clinical development of a non-genetically modified, cryopreserved NK cell therapy called AlloNK.
