Exercise at any time of day can boost productivity. A 2023 survey by Velotric in the US revealed some curious data when comparing morning and nighttime routines. Morning exercisers had the highest average annual income Morning exercisers (69%) feel more productive at work than night exercisers (61%). Night exercisers report 33% higher stress levels at work than morning exercisers. This is consistent with our recent workplace poll, where the majority showed that their most productive time of day is first thing in the morning. Tomorrow will be my last day working in the UAE. That means 6,257 days in Dubai as my home/work base. 🌇 If you count my time in Bahrain, that’s a total of 25 scorching summers (or glorious winters), 50 Eids, 6 US Presidents, 9 British Prime Ministers, and 0 titles won by West Ham United. As I take an exit off the Expat Highway and as I head to the United States to further bolster Salt’s efforts in North/Central/South America, I reflect upon my stint here and feel the need to highlight some of the things that have marked my time in this remarkable region: 👩💼 👨💻 People: having worked on briefs in every inhabited continent, I can say hand on heart that I know of no other place where business is easier to conduct, or where a smile is so easily forthcoming. This contagious, honest friendliness has shaped my own of way of conducting business, and has taught me that you gain *everything* by being kind – to everyone. 👊 Resilience trumps uncertainty. Again, I know of no other region in the world where adversity and precarity are met with such force of perseverance and determination. People in the Middle East are fiercely in love with life and will seize any and every opportunity to make the most of things. This immensely positive attitude has humbled me over the years. ⛓ Relationships last a lifetime. I have benefited immensely over the years from the relationships I have fostered with people across the Middle East. I can only hope they have benefited as much from knowing me as I have benefited from knowing them. ☀ Nothing is impossible. Human beings will achieve tremendous feats once their minds are put to it. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Middle East – the UAE in particular. I want to close by saying that I am immensely grateful for the time given me in this wonderful region, and grateful to Salt for supporting my family’s new adventure by allowing me move to an entirely new region. This flexibility is a credit to Salt’s ‘people first’ culture which I find is much in line with the qualities listed above. Lastly to Dubai and the People Of The United Arab Emirates: shukran lak w ala alliqa' - you are, forever, in my heart and thoughts. 💕
