New technologies can close the huge offshore wind skills gap. 🌊 Our CEO, Brian Allen, spoke to Offshore Energy Today about how Rovco is harnessing AI and automation. "When you start using technology to solve the problem, it begins to close the skills gap slightly because you are able to force multiply. The same number of people can do two or maybe three times more work as a group… We are one of a few industries where AI doesn’t affect or threaten jobs. Because we are so short of people, we actually really need it to essentially force multiply.” Read the full interview: https://lnkd.in/ejHZ6N9v #offshorewind #ai #autonomy Offshore Energy - Subsea

We're excited to share that Rovco has been awarded the site characterisation operations for Green Volt, set to be one of the world's largest floating offshore wind farms. 🌊 Our DP2 survey vessel, Glomar Supporter, will lead the geophysical surveys crucial for the anchor design of the floating turbines. This project, developed by Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn, will bolster Scotland's floating offshore wind sector, creating and upskilling jobs. Located 80 km east of Peterhead, Scotland, Green Volt will generate 1.5TWh of clean energy annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 1 million tons per year. We’re proud to support Green Volt and contribute to the UK’s clean energy future. #offshorewind #greenvolt #renewables

“An engineer paired with artificial intelligence can do between 10 and 17 times more work than they could complete alone. But we won’t get there without era-defining investment in tech and AI skills, both for the existing and the future workforce... Ultimately, we cannot see our tech and sustainability objectives as separate priorities – they are inextricably linked. To succeed in one, we must excel in both." Brian Allen, Rovco CEO, spoke to Power Engineering International about how the industry can reach Labour's ambition of 60GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. Our AI-powered, automated boulder detection system is transforming the way we approach challenging seabeds, like those in the North Sea. 🌊 This innovative tech dramatically reduces the time needed to identify and measure thousands of seabed objects from side scan sonar data. ✅ The result? Clients can move on to the critical boulder clearance stage much sooner in the project lifecycle. 👉 Ready to elevate your offshore wind farm development? Computer Weekly’s new survey has found that AI skills in business are low. Our CEO, Brian Allen, spoke on how four in 10 companies are considering turning to AI to address workforce issues. For offshore wind, using #AI and automation to support the workforce isn’t just an option, but a necessity to bridge the shortage of 70,000 workers. As reflected in the King’s Speech, Labour has recognised the urgency of the global climate challenge. Rovco’s recent £30.6 million investment round is another step forward in our own climate focus, accelerating the deployment of cutting-edge technologies that are set to revolutionise the industry. Our CEO, Brian Allen, spoke about the significance of Labour’s focus on offshore wind and technologies of the future: “Scaling the offshore wind industry must be framed as a tech issue and a tech priority. It will be crucial that Labour supports – through apprenticeships and SME investment – the tech skills that will be the future of the offshore wind workforce." “Labour’s focus, outlined in today’s King’s Speech, on energy security and renewables is commendable. I was particularly pleased to hear the King nod to accelerated investment in the offshore wind industry through the creation of Great British Energy." As Labour recognises the urgency of the global climate challenge, Rovco CEO, Brian Allen, speaks to Sustainability Magazine on the significance of today's King's Speech. “It is also reassuring to hear that Labour recognises the urgency of global climate challenge and the new job opportunities that will come from leading the development of the technologies of the future. As the industry continues to grow so quickly, if we don’t have the workforce we need, it will be simply impossible to reach or even come near the capacity objective of 60GW of offshore wind. The offshore wind industry is already short of around 70,000 workers needed by 2030 – and this is before factoring in Labour’s revised increased capacity target. This isn’t an easy gap to fill, but with the intelligent implementation of AI and automation alongside the offshore wind workforce, we can get there." "Long-term success in any AI strategy will be determined by how well the workforce is upskilled in areas like data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics. Scaling the offshore wind industry must be framed as a tech issue and a tech priority. It will be crucial that Labour supports – through apprenticeships and SME investment – the tech skills that will be the future of the offshore wind workforce."
