Award-winning family-owned furniture retailer. Rated a 'World Class' employer by Best Companies in 2023.

About us

Back in 1989 two friends decided to open the first Furniture Village store in Abingdon, Oxfordshire with a simple philosophy – to offer high quality, beautifully designed furniture at a great price with exceptional service. Our customers seem to like it, and today we’re Britain’s largest independent furniture retailer, employing 1000 staff, and offering 500 different furniture ranges online at www.furniturevillage.co.uk and from 56 stores nationwide. Our philosophy remains the same – and we’re still a family run business. Our buyers are passionate about great design and travel the world to find furniture to inspire and excite our customers. We only partner with trusted furniture brands that share our absolute commitment to quality and many have been with us from the very beginning. Everyone - from our online sales team to our delivery drivers - is committed to 'doing it right'. We've won the Furniture Industry's Retailer of the Year Award on four separate occasions, and Bed Retailer of the Year two years running. We take pride in selling beautiful furniture that can last a lifetime and in building strong and lasting relationships with the passionate, dedicated people we work with. We welcome people who share our core values - our people are our greatest asset and every one of them is part of our family.

We won (twice!) 🎉 We’re incredibly proud to say that we received two major awards at the 2024 Family Business of the Year Awards. We were named Retail Family Business of the Year and London and South East Family Business of the Year in recognition of our family values and consistently innovative approach to retail, customer service and quality products.   Our Managing Director, Charlie Harrison, said “We are delighted to have won two awards… As a family-run business, we are so proud to be recognised for our family-first culture and values.”   Now we look forward to continuing our hard work and aiming higher for the rest of 2024 and beyond! 💙🚀   #FBOTY2024 Paul Andrews

Last week, we were delighted to once again sponsor Big Shots 2024 in support of the furniture industry’s only dedicated charity, The Furniture Makers’ Company. Together, the event raised over £42,000 which will go towards helping young people in our industry and funding support for those who have fallen on hard times. The day started with a bang with the firing of cannons, and then everyone got to work sharpening their clay pigeon shooting skills. It was a fantastic day and great to see so many people turn out for this special event. Thank you to The Furniture Makers' Company, Thomas St Quintin and Charlie Harrison for helping to organise a fantastic day. #BigShots2024

It was inspiring to see over 40 people from across our business take on the infamous Nuclear Race in Brentwood in memory of Mike Broughton. Mike, our much-loved and respected Chief Information Officer, sadly passed away in April.   In honour of Mike, we came together to raise funds for ALK Positive Lung Cancer UK, a remarkable patient-led charity dedicated to improving the life expectancy and quality of life of ALK-positive patients worldwide.   It was a tough few hours, but everyone showed incredible determination. After battling through zip wires, 6-ft walls, and more, we all made it over the finish line 💪   We’re delighted to share that we’ve raised over £7800 which will go towards funding vital research and support for ALK-positive patients.    If you’d like to donate to our JustGiving fund, please click the link below. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re on a mission to move.   Our teams have been holding ‘walking’ meetings this week to get everyone up, out and enjoying the sunshine. It’s been great to see so many people take part in this initiative and support each other’s wellbeing.   While it might seem like a small thing, just a short 10 minute walk can boost your mood and help reduce stress. You don’t have to run a marathon or go the gym to benefit from movement!   For more ways to look after your mental health at work, click here:   https://lnkd.in/e-mZGEaU

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our much-loved and respected Chief Information Officer, Mike Broughton. Mike passed away peacefully on Friday 5th April surrounded by his family. As many of you will know, Mike was a larger-than-life character who brought a wealth of experience, talent and good humour to our Board. He was an inspirational leader and mentor who always made time for his colleagues and encouraged everyone to fulfil their potential with his endless capacity for warmth, empathy and positivity. More than anything, he was a true gentleman. He leaves behind a lasting legacy and will be hugely missed by all his FV Family. Our heartfelt condolences go to the Broughton family at this very sad time.

There were a few egg-citing Easter deliveries over the weekend…   We’d also like to give a special shout out to Warrington RDC who made a large donation of Easter eggs to Warrington Hospital Children’s Ward which we’re sure helped put a smile on lots of faces this Easter.    We hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend! 🐰

It was a privilege to be at the Great British Family Business Conference 2024 yesterday and see so many organisations come together to celebrate the importance of family businesses in the UK. The programme of talks and workshops left us feeling inspired and newly motivated to take on the challenges of the coming year and we left the conference with a renewed appreciation for the unique strengths and advantages of family businesses, no matter the sector. Big thank you to Paul Andrews at Family Business United for hosting such an incredible event. It was great to see everyone again and we look forward to conference 2025! #GBFB2024
