An escalation of violence in the Middle East is in no-one's interest. In Qatar and Lebanon, Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Defence Secretary John Healey call for all parties to agree an immediate ceasefire to bring the conflict in Gaza to an end ⤵️
-
Qatar is a key player working to secure a ceasefire deal to end the conflict in Gaza, protect civilians, get all the hostages out and get much more aid in. UK Foreign and Defence Secretaries are on their first joint visit to the Gulf to urge for de-escalation, and reaffirm the UK-Qatar relationship.

It’s estimated that Africa currently attracts only 3 per cent of global energy investment. At BII, we’re committed to supporting and mobilising much needed private capital towards Africa’s green energy transition. We’ve committed $20 million to the Helios CLEAR Fund – a new climate fund that will invest in African growth-businesses in green sectors that support climate mitigation and adaptation. The fund, managed by our longstanding partner Helios Investment Partners, aims to become the largest Africa-focused climate fund. We’re pleased to be joined as anchor investors in the fund by other leading climate investors including InfraCo Africa, MOBILIST Global, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Emerging Markets Climate Action Fund, FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank and SIFEM - The Swiss Development Finance Institution.
