Hulu is ushering in a new era of Dance Moms.
The streaming service’s unscripted series Dance Moms: A New Era will premiere on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes, and in an extended trailer released on Thursday, we get our first good look at the woman who’ll succeed Abby Lee Miller as the face of the franchise.
The reboot introduces “beloved dance coach Glo Hampton, who wants to take her students and prestigious dance school Studio Bleu to the next level, competing nationally every week. But the road to glory won’t be an easy one,” according to the official logline. “Coach Glo must juggle her tiny-but-mighty dancers, their scheming moms, and ensuing meltdowns, all while ruling with a tender but tough iron fist. Will Glo and her dance team persevere amidst the dramatics?”
The original Dance Moms debuted on Lifetime in 2011, and followed coach Miller and her abrasive teaching style as she trained young girls to dance at her Pittsburgh studio. The show became a hit, running for eight seasons and more than 200 episodes.
In 2020, Lifetime cut ties with Miller after past racist comments made by her came to light; a planned dance competition series featuring Miller was scrapped as a result.
Four years later, the cable network aired Dance Moms: The Reunion, a two-hour special in which fan-favorite cast members JoJo Siwa, Chloe Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kendall Vertes and Kalani Hilliker looked back on their time on the reality show and how it impacted their professional careers. Their moms, Jessalynn Siwa, Christi Lukasiak, Kelly Hyland, Jill Vertes and Kira Hilliker, also made appearances.

Someone’s bound to have a field day with this question, but why don’t the Dance Moms coaches ever…look…dancer-y?
Because they’re not dancers, they are people who stand on the sidelines screaming at children.
Abby Miller to me was the biggest draw. Without her it’s just a dance competition.
Yes, without her abusing children, it’s just a dance competition, as it should be.
If Abby Lee miller is not the dance coach I will not be watching the reboot Abby Lee miller was great she was tough yes but she loved the girls if she comes back with a show I will watch but until then I will watch her reruns of dance moms
She did not treat the dancers well.
She was abusive.
I don’t think it will have as big a following as before since its on a pay channel.
On Hulu, no thanks. Won’t be the big hit it was on Lifetime.
Og moms were idiots an jealous of other mothers and daughter that were better then there kids the jealousy would kick in Abby Lee miller was awesome she made everybody famous they should thank her for that.
