Bring it in for the real thing, Evil fans!
This week’s episode of Paramount+’s supernatural drama found Ben, David and Kristen sharing deep secrets while driving home from investigating a pack of possessed pigs. (Not the point here; stay with us.)
After Kristen said she’d stopped believing anything regarding religion or demons, Ben confessed that he’d been seeing and hearing a djinn and was taking medication to try to stop the hallucinations. Then David let his co-workers know that The Entity introduced him to the practice of remote viewing, and that his long distance interaction with a dictator was affecting his emotional state.
“We are three f–ked-up people,” Ben noted, making David chuckle. But Kristen had a newfound mission. “OK, pull over,” she told David, who was driving. “We’ve gotta hug.”
And then, in a throwback to Season 2’s silent episode, the members of Team Good get out of the car on the side of the road for the singular purpose of embracing each other. It was a sweet moment in a sometimes very scary show, so of course we asked Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi and Katja Herbers about it.
“There is a real progression in this friendship,” Herbers tells TVLine in the video above. “I think we started off as colleagues who took a liking to each other, and I think we’ve become, like, really, really deep friends.”
As the conversation continued, the trio got a little goofy, reenacting the embrace for us. “We have done it in real life,” Herbers said. “Oh, we do it all the time,” Colter added, deadpanning. “It’s the only way we talk!”
Before you press PLAY on the video above to see the conversation in full, we’d remiss if we didn’t also note these important moments from the hour, titled “How to Slaughter a Pig”:
* Sheryl’s assistant, Leslie — aka the woman pregnant with the alleged Antichrist — went into labor during a meeting in which Sheryl announced her intention to have the women of the company take over. As Leslie labored at a private facility, she was attended by Linda Bloch, the racist nurse who tormented David in Season 1. She came to fear that Leland and the nurse were planning to kill her and feed her body to the baby after birth, so she escaped and made a frantic call to Kristen. Kristen didn’t believe her… until Leslie mentioned Nurse Bloch and her squeaky shoes.
* After Kristen got Leslie to a normal hospital, she tried to distance herself from the proceedings but wound up coaching the younger woman through the final stages of childbirth. Leslie named the baby Timothy — which happens to be Kristen’s dad’s name. While Leslie slept, a nurse railroaded Kristen into giving the boy a bottle (“You’re the other mother, right?”). As she held Timothy, Kristen fought back tears.

I loved the group hug :D. Their whole conversation in the car was great. Especially Ben just noting how messed up they all were (except, of course, he put it a lot more bluntly :p). I’m glad they’re actually talking to each other about the stuff they’re all dealing with.
.
The way I gasped when Nurse Bloch showed up. Oh, my god. And the baby’s name being the same as that of Kristen’s dad…hmmmm…
.
Everything with the pigs was weird and creepy.
I FREAKING Love this show. Finally Ben comes clean about what has been happening to him.
Throw back Thursday with the group hug. Can’t believe Kristen is out on religion again especially after praying for her husband to be alive.
I actually liked the two episodes. I’m glad I stuck around. That premiere to me was awful.
That honest conversation in the car followed by the group hug was awesome! I love these people with all their faults and their pursuit of Good/Truth in their own individual ways.
I have to admit that I teared up when Kristen was giving Timothy a bottle and she touched his cheek. Her love for him as her son may give him a fighting chance to thwart Leland’s & the Manager’s plans.
The pig stuff – yikes. The real explanation for the pigs’ behavior was almost worse than possession. And the drone video of the farmer’s son on all fours was like a nightmare. I hope I never see a video like that!
Love every minute of every episode. Such a crush on Katja.
