Good news, Buccaneers fans: You won’t be left hanging after that Season 1 finale twist. Apple TV+ has renewed the dynamic historical drama for Season 2, TVLine has learned.
“It’s been a complete thrill to watch people all over the world fall in love with these characters, who’ve been brought to such vibrant life by our spectacular cast,” series creator Katherine Jakeways said in a statement. “We know Season 1 left audiences desperate to know what’s next for our buccaneers, so I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to explore the further adventures of this smart, joyful, messy sisterhood.”
Based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel, the series centers on a group of fun-loving American girls who “explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition,” per the official synopsis. “Sent to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying ‘I do’ is just the beginning.”
Season 1 ended with Nan (played by Kristine Frøseth) marrying Theo (Guy Remmers) and gaining the duchess title to protect both her sister Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse) and mother Patti (Christina Hendricks), who’ve left their respective spouses. This was after Nan professed her love to Guy (Matthew Broome) and had chosen him over the duke.
“She’s obviously in love with Guy,” Frøseth previously told TVLine. “[Nan and Theo] had small moments but overall, I think it’s not going to be a great marriage. It’s going to be forced.”
Matthew Broome noted that he didn’t believe that Guy, who accompanied Jinny to America, would leave things up in the air with Nan. “I think he’s going to come back,” Broome said. “At the moment, what’s going on with Jinny and Seadown is more important, and they make that sacrifice. But they do have that line about love bringing them back together, and I think they both believe that. I think if their love is strong enough, then they will find a way.”
How do you feel about The Buccaneers’ renewal? What do you hope to see in Season 2?
Ana is a horrible person to use Theo like this. She and Guy don’t deserve a happy ending.
There, I said it.
Did you not pick up on the fact that Theo’s mother arranged the way the whole thing played out?
Oh, let’s hear you advocate for Mama’s boy once more. She practically forced the girl to marry her son.
I was so rooting for Nan to fall madly in love with the handsome Duke Theo. I was waiting for that on-screen moment when we would feel the love between them. When Nan threw away his love and choose Guy, I simply lost interest in the show. There was as absolutely no on-screen chemistry between them. Where as Theo and Nan had the chemistry. Any ways that killed it for me. And, how could Nan sleep with another man the night before her wedding? Who writes this stuff?,Also, except for the last two episodes this show drive me nuts with all the silly giggling going on between grown women. They acted more like children. I was glad when it ended. And, I only stuck to the end just in the hopes of Theo and Nan marrying. But no love on her cold, cold heart. She was as so eager to save her sister by making Theo pay the price. I absolutely can’t stand Nan for how she didn’t consider the hurt she would bring on n Theo. The only good lady acting ((who by the way didn’t annoy me with giggling and as I he blonde playing the gay lady. She was excellent and was hat series was well beneath her scope of acting.

I’m so excited for this! I loved the first season so much!
I love watching Mia Theapleton in this show – there are moments when she looks and sounds just like her mother, Kate Winslet!
Can’t wait to see what’s next for these rebels hitting stuffy British aristocracies, and how much more trouble they get themselves into
