The Ride is over for Hallmark Channel, which has cancelled the rodeo family drama after just one season, Vulture reports.
The series starred Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing), Tiera Skovbye (Riverdale), Beau Mirchoff (Good Trouble), Sara Garcia (The Flash), Jake Foy (Designated Survivor) and Tyler Jacob Moore (Shameless) in a multigenerational family drama following the lives of the McMurrays, part of a rodeo dynasty going back a generation, as they struggled to keep their beloved ranch afloat.
“After a tragic loss, each character embarks on an empowering journey of transformation and self-discovery while also uncovering a twisted web of secrets,” reads the synopsis, “threatening to tear the family and their small Colorado town apart at the seams.”
The finale aired on May 28 and found Cash (played by Mirchoff) riding the same bull that killed his brother Austin. After Cash won, Austin’s widow, Missy (Skovbye), confronted him about his feelings for her, leading the two to share their first kiss. But when he and Missy’s other love interest, Gus (Moore) — who had told Missy that he was falling in love with her — both later showed up at Missy’s door, she was gone, having opted for a new trick riding gig in Albuquerque.
Mirchoff weighed in on that Cash/Missy kiss and the show’s renewal odds in a post mortem Q&A. “Fans seem to love it, the ratings are pretty good,” he told TVLine. “More people are discovering it, that’s really cool. Sometimes, shows need a little time. It’s a really great show. I think they’d be silly not to give it a second season.”
Are you disappointed that the rodeo drama has reached an early conclusion? Hit the comments with your thoughts.
No shocker there, the show was awful. Hallmark was very foolish to greenlight something this stupid
You seem to be the stupid one..what do you want? Sex drugs and murde go to any primitive and that’s all u get….
This is a very good show and it’s family oriented. I’m very disappointed on Hallmark’s decision to end it. It seems to me every time a good decent program comes on, the plug is pulled.
Hopefully someone like GAC will pick it up since so many of Hallmark stars are making the move.
Awww, it wasn’t great but I still liked it. Seems I’m deleting a lot of shows from my apps now that the strike is over. Won’t need the apps anymore.
Enjoyed the show and especially like Sara Garcia. So it’s disappointing not to give a second season.
Loved the show. Hallmark you get more disappointing every year now.
I thought Ride was a great show! Loved it and disappointed it’s not coming back!!!
Ride started slow but became more interesting as the stories developed. Too bad Halkmark didn’t give it time to grow the audience. There was more story to tell.☹️
I loved this show! Bring it back!!
I really enjoyed this. Sure, a Hallmark drama is going to be different than an FX drama, but sometimes I dig the comfort shows. And Beau keeps having shows I like be canceled post-Awkward; I also really dug Now Apocalypse (which is on the totally different end of the spectrum). I was really hoping this one would get renewed.
Loved this show! We need a campaign to bring in back!
I agree!
Very upset, love the actors, the storyline and truly disappointed in Hallmark if they cancel this series😡😡 I’m a senior citizen and still love these types of family shows 🥰.
Please reconsider and keep this series going …..
It was obvious it was not as interesting as The Way Home that preceded it. And the western theme was more interesting done in Heartland. It just did not standout.
I actually liked it better than The Way Home. I found TWH to be tedious and predictable and the lead character is annoying.
Yes, it was just really beginning.
Ride was nowhere near close to the exquisite allure and quality of The Way Home.
This show was fine but definitely not as invested as hallmarks other new in 2023 series the way home… hopefully this means when calls the heart will be back in the spring vs fall
Awe I just hate that they cancelled this great show! It had great actors and a good storyline.
I Love this Series!! Why take it off after only 1 season?? Give us the reason for cancelling this show!!!
A great show about a family so of course Hallmark canceled. They’d rather show Christmas movies year round maybe they should change their name. Bring it back or another network pick it up.
The reason…low ratings. Television is a business and they need to make money. If the ratings are high it stays on the air. If the ratings are low they cancel it. Simple as that. Don’t blame the network. Blame the people who didn’t watch the show.
I had mixed feelings. I was hoping that when they came back for season 2 maybe it would be stronger. The fact that it took so long to let us know whether it was canceled or not. Pretty much told me they weren’t coming back
Why is it that everytime channels get a good show they take it off!
Money
We were really looking forward to a season two. I know it’s only wishful thinking, but I hope another streaming service picks this one up. There really was a chance of storyline development there.
Need to continue the show and not leave all of us fans hanging! This is a good show!
RIDE was great- no swearing, clean yet rugged. Don’t cancel it!!!!!
My condolences to the fans of “Great Value Yellowstone”.
It was a great show, so don’t cancel it. People wanna know how it’s going to end at least 11 and have an ending so Casl and Missy could come together and live happily ever after
So very disappointed that this show is being cancelled . There is still so much story to tell. Hope another network will pick up the series.
I guess Heartland is enough
Great show, why are all the good shows being cancelled? Wake up networks, by cancelling the good shows you are leaving the viewing audience with garbage.
I have been waiting to hear when season 2 would premiere so this is a HUGE disappointment. I truly enjoyed this show. As a girl who grew up loving horses, this was a great show to add to my Hallmark repertoire. There was definitely more story to tell and it is a shame that we won’t get the answers to all the questions that need answered. Once again the powers that be don’t have a clue.
I find it funny that people still seem to think networks are some sort of non-profit showcase for the good of the people. They are a business and thus only care about money. They don’t cancel a show because THEY think it’s good or bad. They cancel it because of low ratings. Stop blaming the networks and start blaming the people who don’t want to watch it.
Good shows always get canceled. Way to much reality shows and crime shows.
I’ve always love hallmark shows. Hope they change their minds or another streaming service grabs it.
I love the show
