Reasonable Doubt‘s law office is swooning at its newest recruit, Morris Chestnut, in a newly released trailer for Season 2.
The Resident alum’s defense lawyer, Corey Cash, is brought on board by Jax to help with her friend Shanelle’s case, but the team-up soon turns tense.
“I know for a fact that if we don’t follow the right plan, we lose,” Corey exclaims at Jax, angering her husband Lewis, who threateningly responds, “I suggest you take some of that bass out your voice, homie.”
And Lewis may have another reason to be worried about Corey, who seems awfully fond while later hugging Jax.
Season 2 of the legal drama will begin Thursday, Aug. 22 on Hulu with two episodes, with new installments releasing weekly on Thursdays.
“After trying to heal from her wounds from last season’s arduous trial and deadly affair, Jax Stewart (Ballers’ Emayatzy Corinealdi) is attempting to get her life back on track,” reads the new season’s official description. “That is until one of her closest friends reveals that she has killed her husband. Her friend is claiming self-defense, but an uncompromising prosecutor thinks otherwise. Needing all the help she can get, Jax brings in an ambitious defense attorney to lead the case, but things get tense very quickly. Can Jax defend her friend, save her marriage and protect her energy while being catapulted into the biggest case of her career? Or will she lose it all?”
Joining Corinealdi for Season 2 are McKinley Freeman (Queen Sugar), Morris Chestnut (The Resident), Tim Jo (This Is Us), Angela Grovey (Joyful Noise), Thaddeus J. Mixson (Candy Cane Lane) and newcomer Aderinsola Olabode.
In keeping with the Onyx Collective brand, each episode of Reasonable Doubt is directed by Black directors and written by an all-Black writers’ room. The series was created, written and executive-produced by showrunner Raamla Mohamed, whose previous credits include Scandal and Little Fires Everywhere, while Scandal‘s own Kerry Washington also serves as an EP.

So excited – I watched season 1 on Disney+ and it was one of the few I sat down for every week. Can’t wait to see what Morris Chestnut brings!
When Morris Chestnut turns up, shows get unfortunately often cancelled.
Nina on FBI MOST WANTED. Nina doesn’t fit. The faces she makes drives me crazy. Can’t act. They should never have let Kirsten go. I was hoping her and Remi would get together.
Done with FBI international first mistake getting rid of Jaime. The two new people don’t fit. Now that Scott is gone no longer need to watch.
