Get ready to give yourself Goosebumps again: Disney+ has renewed the R.L. Stine-inspired comedy-horror series for Season 2, TVLine has learned.
“Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows of last year,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said in a statement. “We can’t wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L. Stine, and to collaborate once again with Sony Pictures Television, Scholastic Entertainment, and our fantastic creative team to bring an entirely new mystery to Disney+ for Season 2.”
Disney+ also dropped a tease for the upcoming season, which will feature a new story and setting with an all-new cast: “Teenage siblings discover a threat within their home, setting off a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”
Season 1 followed five high schoolers as they embarked on “a shadowy and twisted journey” to investigate the tragic passing of a teen named Harold Biddle, according to its official description. As strange things started going bump in the night, the kids began to unearth dark secrets from their parents’ past, including their former connection to the late Biddle. The new Goosebumps draws on elements from some of Stine’s most popular books including “Say Cheese and Die,” “The Haunted Mask,” “The Cuckoo Clock of Doom,” “Go Eat Worms” and “Night of the Living Dummy.”
The Season 1 cast included Justin Long (Barbarian), Rachael Harris (Lucifer), Zack Morris (EastEnders), Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard), Miles McKenna (Guilty Party), Ana Yi Puig (Gossip Girl) and Will Price (The Equalizer).
Goosebumps was previously adapted for the small screen (as an anthology series, which ran for four seasons on YTV and Fox Family between 1995 and 1998) and the big screen (with Jack Black playing Stine in a pair of movies released in 2015 and 2018).
TVLine’s master calendar has been updated to reflect the news.

The right move to reboot with a new cast and story next year. They teased some things happening in the finale, but no one wants 10 more episodes of a mythical dummy haunting and terrorizing people.
Keeping it in the 90’s is also smart. I think that aspect of the show was universally praised.
This is great news. I thought for being a IP that has been adapted several times from the books for tv/films already, they did a great job in making it different take then the others. It had the right balance of not being to much of a kids version but also not to much of an adult version. I also like the new cast, new story, anthology concept they are moving forward with. Gives them a chance to keep the show fresh.
Only if they didn’t end the first season with an unresolved cliffhanger.
I’m glad that it’s a new cast and new story. I secretly would love to see Horrorland! Just imagine what they can do with that story today!!!
With a new cast and story? I’m glad that there’s still an anthology element to this Goosebumps, but season 1 still ended on multiple cliffhangers.
Yes, should those cliffhangers be dealt with first before moving on to a new story and new cast?!
If they are going to continue to cast well-known comedic actors as the parents, at least let them be funny this time. It was bizarre seeing comedians doing these weird depressing dramatic roles. Play to actors strengths is all I’m saying and play up the campy, play down the bland teen angst. Maybe get Nicole Sullivan for next season since they are getting a new cast.
I’m kind of shocked (but happy about the renewal) that are ditching the S1 cast and story. I thought it ended on a cliffhanger with Isiah, the teacher, etc.
Making it an analogy is the best way to go about it. Each season encompassing a couple of the books that would fit well into a full season long story.
