Fallout is poised to come back with a bang, now that Prime Video‘s video game adaptation has been renewed for Season 2.
The news comes just over a week after Season 1’s eight-episode release, which in its first four days, Prime Video claims, emerged as one of the service’s top three most-watched titles ever — and the most-watched season globally since Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Based on the popular video game series, Fallout is set 200 years after the apocalypse, where Lucy (played by Yellowjackets‘ Ella Purnell) — a denizen of a luxury fallout shelter (“vault”) — finds her peaceful nature tested when she is forced to the surface to locate her father (Twin Peaks‘ Kyle MacLachlan). Aaron Moten (NeXT) plays Maximus, a young soldier rising in the ranks of the militaristic Brotherhood of Steel, while Walton Goggins (Justified) plays Western star Cooper Howard and his post-apocalyptic persona The Ghoul, a morally fluid bounty hunter. The three parties collide when chasing a researcher (Evil‘s Michael Emerson) who is in possession of an artifact that has the potential to change the power dynamic in this hellscape.
The Season 1 cast also includes Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Leslie Uggams (Empire), Frances Turner (New Amsterdam), Dave Register, Zach Cherry (Severance), Johnny Pemberton (Superstore), Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers), Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU) and Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time). Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy executive-produced the series with creators/showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner.
“Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have captivated the world with this groundbreaking, wild ride of a show,” Amazon MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise. The cast led by Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan have knocked it out of the park!”
Nolan and Joy in turn praised Fallout’s “insanely brilliant showrunners” and its “kick-ass cast,” adding: “We can’t wait to blow up the world all over again.”
Robertson-Dworet and Wagner’s statement reads, “Holy [s–t]. Thank you to Jonah, Kilter, Bethesda and Amazon for having the courage to make a show that gravely tackles all of society’s most serious problems these days — cannibalism, incest, jello cake. More to come!”

Fantastic! I binged it in 2 days. Best new series in a while. Hope they can keep up the momentum, and I also home it doesn’t take 2+ years for it to come out..
My mom &! watched the first episode & we enjoyed it. We intend to watch the next three episodes this weekend.
You still living at mamas place? Time to get out from the basement and get real life friends and perhaps girlfriend one day.
That’s right Harry. The guy spending quality time with his mother and not spending 100% of his free time with others automatically means what you suggested.
Perhaps he’s a teen or young adult who can’t afford to be on his own yet or he is on his own, but she lives with him or him and his significant other because of his Mom’s own financial issues. Maybe she’s visiting for a period of time. Maybe he’s her caregiver or she’s his.
Just because someone has a good relationship with their parents doesn’t mean they live in a “basement”. People do spend time with their folks you know..
I liked this series…never played the game, but the world building was interesting and I’m curious where they’ll go from that ending.
Great news, Love Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins
Okie Dokie!
It didnt click with me but I am nontheless happy it got a season 2. That way I can give it another chance.
Goggins is a national treasure.
Good to hear. While I enjoyed the entire thing immensely, I wonder how much of this we can take, and how often. I think they’re going to need a clearly visible long term storyline to be crystalized in Season 2 if they want to reach seasons 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc…
As an avid player of the game I can say they were spot on with this show. I will admit that the first two episodes were a little Meh for me but I was really enjoying the attention to detail and all the Easter eggs so I stayed with it. Glad I did because it really started to take shape after that and turned into a pretty good shoe. (it is very hard to pull off the schmaltzy 1950s optimism combined with apocalyptic doom and darkly dry humor but they have mostly done it.)
I’d like to see them extend the second season a bit and maybe have some episodes that are more stand-alone “side quests”. That’s such a big part of the game that it would be fun to see them lean into it more.
Watched the trailer really thought it looked good and I am picky over TV series however after the first 2 episodes I realized this one is rubbish jumps here there and everywhere like a jigsaw puzzle .wont be watching episode 3 thats for sure
