Evil is coming to an end on Paramount+, if nowhere else in the world.
The supernatural series will end with its upcoming Season 4, TVLine has learned. The show’s swan song will begin streaming in May.
In May 2023, production on Season 4 wrapped earlier than scheduled after a cast member had to take a leave of absence to attend to a family matter. However, Paramount+ has ordered four additional episodes that will be added to the season; these are scheduled to begin shooting soon in New York City. (Read leading lady Katja Herber’s reaction to the show’s surprise cancellation.)
On Thursday, Paramount+ released a tantalizing teaser trailer that offers a first glimpse at Season 4 footage. The bottom line? Everyone is losing their minds, and we have no idea what’s going on.
“We want to thank Paramount+ for giving us four bonus episodes to end Evil in the world in style,” series co-creators/showrunners/executive producers Robert and Michelle King said via statement. “We will miss this show and cast. In many ways it was a dream project, but sadly evil will outlast Evil. See you in May.”
At the end of Season 3, Kristen was shocked to learn that Leland was going to become a father… and that his pregnant partner’s baby was conceived using Kristen’s ova. In other news, Andy returned to his family — who temporarily thought that he’d died in an avalanche while mountain climbing — but something about him was very off. Sister Andrea toured Kristen’s home and realized it was infested with demons. And David had a vision of an angel who told him, “38 days, woe to Babylon.” (Read a finale recap and hear what series co-creator/executive producer Robert King had to say about the episode.)
We don’t know much more yet about the upcoming season, but when TVLine was on set in early 2023, series star Mike Colter hinted that The Entity — aka the Vatican’s super-secret organization that recruited David a while back — would definitely be a player in the coming episodes and that it has “sort of morphed into something that I will say is slightly more sinister, maybe, because the Entity is separate from the Church.”

NO! This cancellation is evil!
Enjoying the complaints here about its cancellation. Truly pleased that people are upset about it. The sadness fills me with such joy.
…What?
You’re expecting me to be kinder and more sympathetic after watching a show called ‘Evil?’
Seriously?!? I am going to miss this show, alot.
Paramount is canceling too many great shows. I’m still po’d about Joe Pickett being canceled. I know several people that loved it also, and we all usually have very different tastes when it comes to movies and shows, so that’s saying something.
Evil and Seal Team were the whole reason I got Paramount+. Looks like I may save some money soon.
I really love this show and think it should run for longer since it easily could as a procedural BUT they’ve kind of fumbled the whole Leland/sigil stuff into making it too confusing and not going anywhere. I really hope they wrap that up in this last season
It’s already a procedural. It has cases of the week.
On one hand this is terrible news, on the other it frees up Mike Colter being able to slip back into the role of Luke Cage in a (fingers crossed) Heroes for Hire Disney Plus series/special.
As long as they do a proper ending where things are properly explained and everything…..and not just end with a slap to the face, then I’ll be happy.
Totally upset and mad that Evil is ending. They can still do so much with it! It’s one of the best shows around. I have rewatched it on Paramount + in anticipation of the upcoming season. I can’t wait… I love the connection between David and Kristen. Ben is hysterical and they are a great team. Please have it come back in another network. Even if they only do 1 short season. It needs more time and there are other shows that certainly aren’t worth watching that last longer. Please bring it back again!!
Agree! 100 percent! Netflix could pick it up! Let’s write them!
So sad!! One of my favorite shows.
Thanks for a long coming update on EVIL. The best shows seem to get cancelled way to early.
I was wondering about the delay and I’m glad to hear that they got four bonus episodes to film. It’s sad but I’m glad that they got to write their finale.
Loved this show when it was on regular tv.
Paramount, if you are reading this, why do you keep cancelling shows I love? After Evil ends, the only shows that will keep me a subscriber are Strange New Worlds and Yellowjackets. I’m very disappointed.
I won’t forkin’ curse, but FORK Paramount+ for canceling EVIL! It is awful that, by far, THE BEST horror series streaming is being thrown away way before its expiration. I’ll wait for the final air date, purchase a single month to view this unconscionably moronic “entertainment” provider, binge EVIL’S last run, cancel, and promptly delete this service’s logo from my Roku.
If I could “like” this comment a million times I would. I 1000% agree with you.
This is now the 5th show that I watch (and mind you, I am not a big TV couch potato) that has been cancelled in the past year. Short lives of good shows. It’s been a rough start to 2024.
I’m disappointed, but not surprised. It’s been one of my favorite shows, but the multi year breaks between seasons has been rough, the plot is increasingly complex, and I’m glad they’re getting extra episodes. I’ll miss this crazy show.
Meh. It’s a good show, but not great so I’m not really surprised, but I am glad it will get an official ending.
This is a shame as Evil has just gotten better each season. I have gone back and rewatched it many times.
I would love to see Netflix, HBO or Amazon pick it up but think that is doubtful. Evil is produced by CBS and King Entertainment. I wouldn’t be surprised if Robert & Michelle King have a production contract with CBS. I have lost count of how many excellent TV shows that the Kings have had on CBS/Paramount. I don’t know if anyone can even shop the show around to the other viewing channels.
Paramount is reported to be looking for a buyer or merging partner. They seem to be not committing to anything that is not a cash cow so as to be more attractive to a buyer or new partner.
FX seems like a good fit imo
The app is trash. It crashes all the time. They are looking for a buyer because they never really invested in proper tech to make it work correctly. We are constantly removing and reloading it. The help desk doesn’t help. There are complaints everyone about its reliability.
I love Evil and the whole cast, even very Evil Leland. He’s a great actor. I will miss it very much but I can’t wait to see the last season. I already have one eye closed.
It frees up Aasif Mandvi to take over The Daily Show when Jon Stewart is done! Michael Emmerson to relaunch Person of Interest in the age of AI! Mike Coulter to join the Marvel Universe. I really loved this show and was kind of hoping Carrie Preston would find time to show up in it too. As a lapsed Catholic, it gave me a lot to laugh at and even more to think about.
I loved the show, but it’s hard to gain an audience for these shows with mini-seasons and years between seasons.
I’m so sad to hear this news. I love Evil. It’s a great show. Wish they would change their minds
This show could have gone more seasons 😢
They see the writing on the wall for Paramount + when Discovery/ Warner come knocking for it’s parent company. It will be folded into Max. Sad to end but better to go out with some finality than be left in limbo when the takeover happens. It’s a fantastic show that deserves an ending, albeit one that comes too soon..
I really like this show. We subscribed to Paramount just for Evil. I agree with other commenters, it’s hard for a show to survive with so much time between seasons. We go back and rewatch previous seasons to get ready for the next of most shows we follow. I’m bummed it’s ending, but glad extra episodes have been added. I’m hopeful everything will be wrapped up nicely.
Well, this was not the TV news I wanted to read today :(. That sucks. Glad they’re getting some additional episodes tto properly wrap things up, though, at least.
