With no disrespect to Challengers, this might be pop culture’s biggest tennis news of the week.
All American: Homecoming will be back for its third season on Monday, July 8, at 9/8c, The CW announced Wednesday.
As previously reported, the All American mothership has added two episodes to its currently airing sixth season, for a total of 15 episodes. With those extra installments factored in, All American‘s Season 6 finale will air Monday, July 15, at 8 pm. Homecoming will then move to its regular 8 pm time slot beginning the following week, on July 22.
Additionally, The CW has announced a July 22 (9/8c) premiere date for Season 2 of 61st Street, the Courtney B. Vance-led drama series that was rescued by The CW after its second season was scrapped by original home AMC.
Here’s the full rundown, in list form:

All American: Homecoming has experienced some behind-the-scenes changes during its hiatus, namely the demotions of Peyton Alex Smith (Damon Sims) and Kelly Jenrette (Amara Patterson) from series regulars to recurring players. Cory Hardrict (Marcus Turner) and Rhoyle Ivy King (Nathaniel Hardin) will serve as series regulars on reduced guarantees, meaning they’ll appear in fewer episodes, while Geffri Maya (Simone Hicks), Sylvester Powell (JR Raymond), Netta Walker (Keisha McCalla), Mitchell Edwards (Cam Watkins) and Camille Hyde (Thea Mays) are all returning as full-fledged series regulars.
Martin Bobb-Semple, who plays one of Simone’s suitors Lando Johnson, has also been upped to series regular for the upcoming third season.

Did I miss any news of season 1 of 61st Street airing on CW as a broadcast channel, or will it only be available via their app? (I know it is already there, I just forget about it versus checking the DVR).
I wondered about that as well. According to thefutoncritic, 61st Street season 1 has not aired on the linear CW network. If I recall correctly, season 1 was originally going to air after All American this past fall, of course the strikes altered that.
Right, they originally said the seasons would air back to back, but they’ve been all over the place and prioritizing sports; it almost feels like a summer burn-off now but I do enjoy having scripted content on broadcast in summers – which has been increasingly rare so I hope we see more of it from the CW, even if acquired content. I also hope season 2 wraps up the story nicely if I watch, if it was produced before being cancelled.
Do we know if there will be a one-year time jump to put All American: Homecoming in the same timeline as All American, or will it Season 3 of All American: Homecoming taking place one year before Season 6 of All American?
