Getting ready for your trip

Look out for an email and text message from us 5 days before your stay. It’ll have your personalised link to download the app and automatically log you in.

Check in
with a tap

We’ll text and email your personalised link again the morning you’re staying. At 3pm (or 12 noon if you’ve booked early check in), just open the StaySmart app and tap the ‘Check in’ button.

Your digital room key will be added to the key tab and you can head straight to your room when you arrive.

What is StaySmart?

Travelodge StaySmart is a new kind of hotel experience. It’s all about giving you a quick and smooth experience so you can get on with more of the things you’re coming to do. 

There’s no reception to wait around at. With our new StaySmart app, you can check in on the go, get your key on your phone and go straight to your room when you arrive.  

We’ve popped the essentials for your stay in our StaySmart essentials cupboards so you can just help yourself. Or you can call or video call us anytime in the app or on the smart kiosks in the lobby if you need anything else.

Where do I download the app?

Look out for an email and text message from us 5 days before your stay. It’ll have your personalised link to download the app and automatically log you in.

If you miss the email or want to be ready sooner, you can download the app from the App Store or Google Play.  You won’t be able to see your booking until 5 days before your stay, but you’ll be all set.

What if I don’t have a smartphone?

You can check in, get a physical key and talk to someone all from our smart kiosks in the hotel lobby.

To get another key card, just tap the ‘Get extra card’ on the kiosk home screen.

What settings do I need to change on my phone?

You’ll need to allow Bluetooth and ‘Location Services’ (‘whilst using the app’) in your settings otherwise your key won’t work.

Do I need WiFi or data allowance to use the app?

Yes, you do and WiFi is free at St. Albans. 

It’s easy to connect, just choose ‘Travelodge WiFi’ in your settings and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you’re downloading or using the app away from the hotel you’ll need WiFi or mobile data.

Can I amend my booking in the app?

Any booking amends need to be made via the Manage Bookings section of the website, or by calling Central Reservations on 03719 848 848 subject to availability. (Calls charged at local rates).

My phone battery has died

No problem. There are plenty of wireless charging stations in the hotel lobby to keep your phone powered up.

How do I make the hotel aware of my special requirements?

Please call the hotel on 03719 848 848 [option 3] (calls charged at local rates) to discuss. You can also speak to us using the ‘telephone chat’ icon in the app when your booking appears 5 days before your stay.

Can I store my luggage at the hotel?

We don’t have luggage storage here. But it’s easy to extend your check-in or check-out time to leave your bags in your room.  

Use Manage Booking to check availability. If it’s after midday on the day you’re arriving, just call through the app for free, or the hotel on 03719 848 848 [option 3] (calls charged at local rates).  It’s just £10 per room per service.

Do you provide cots?

Cots are free to book. Please check ahead as they’re first come first served. Contact us via the ‘telephone chat’ icon in the app, or call the hotel on 03719 848 848 [option 3] (calls charged at local rates).

Checking in

How do I check in?

Click on your personalised link in your email or SMS to download and login to the app. On the day you’re staying, just open the app and tap the ‘Check in’ button any time from 3pm and head straight to your room when you arrive. Your digital room key will be added to the key tab ready.

To share a key, tap the ‘Share Key’ button on the ‘Key’ tab and follow the instructions.

Can I get an extra key for additional guests?

It’s easy to share a digital key.  Just tap the ‘Share Key’ button on the ‘Key’ tab and follow the instructions to send an invite to download the app and log in.

Or you can quickly get another key card from our smart hotel kiosks. Just tap ‘Get extra key’ on the homescreen.

You can have a combination of 3 digital keys or key cards per room.

How do I get a replacement room key?

You can either set up the app on your phone and use the digital key, or go to the smart kiosks in the hotel lobby to print an extra key card.

What is my room number?

You can see your room number in the ‘Key’ tab of the app once you’ve checked in.

On the kiosk, your room number shows as your key card prints. We’ll send you an email and SMS with a reminder too.

How do I get help or speak to someone?

Our team’s here for you 24/7. Just tap the help button in the app to chat with us by voice, video or WhatsApp from wherever you are.  

You can ‘tap to chat’ to speak to us on the smart kiosks in the hotel lobby too. Or check out our frequently asked questions for fast, helpful answers in either the app or kiosk.

How do I report a fault with my room?

Our team is always on hand. Just tap the help button in the app to chat with us by voice, video or WhatsApp from wherever you are.  Or you can ‘tap to chat’ to speak to us on the smart kiosks in the hotel lobby

Essentials

How do I get extra tea/coffee or towels?

We’ve popped the essentials for your stay in our StaySmart essentials cupboards. You’ll find top-ups in the StaySmart essentials cupboard in the lobby. If you’re staying more than 1 night,  pop your door hanger out before 11am and our team will top up your towels or tea and coffee.

How do I request a room clean?

If you’re staying more than 1 night,  pop your door hanger out before 11am and our team will top up your towels or tea and coffee and empty your bins.

If you’re staying more than 6 nights your room will be cleaned automatically on the 7th day of your stay. If you don’t want your room cleaned at all during your stay, just pop the Do Not Disturb door hanger outside your room.

 

Can I book breakfast/dinner with the app?

You can’t book through the app. Just pop down to the ground floor and let your Bar Café team look after you.

Can I order room service with the app?

Travelodge hotels don’t offer room service.

Do you have a hairdryer, iron/ironing board I can use?

We’ve popped the essentials for your stay in our StaySmart essentials cupboards. Hair dryers, irons and ironing boards are in the cupboards on each floor by the lifts. Grab what you need. Just pop them back for the next guest when you’re done.

How do I check out?

Checking out is a breeze. Just tap ‘Check out’ on the ‘Stay’ tab in the app or drop your keycard off by the lifts on the ground floor as you walk out.

How do I get a copy of my invoice?

We can email you a copy of your invoice. Contact us via the ‘telephone chat’ icon in the app or the ‘tap to chat’ button on our smart kiosks in the lobby.
