The Crash of Transoceanic Flight 37 was a botched rescue mission of the commercial civilian airplane Flight 37 undertaken by Homelander and Queen Maeve, after it was hijacked mid-flight, and the passengers and crew aboard were being held as hostages by terrorists.

Background[]

In mid-2019, Transoceanic Flight 37 from Paris to Chicago was hijacked mid-air by three terrorists over the Atlantic Ocean.

In response to this, Vought send Homelander and Queen Maeve to take care of the situation and save the hostages. Vought used this as an effort to convince the public and the US Government that supes are needed in the military.

Homelander and Queen Maeve broke into the plane and successfully killed the hijackers until they went inside the cockpit. One hijacker was still alive holding the co-pilot at gunpoint, in which the co-pilot was shot. Homelander killed the hijacker with his laser eyes but in the process ended up destroying the plane's cockpit, causing the plane to fall and crash.

Since the plane's flight systems were destroyed and neither of them knew how to fly a plane, Queen Maeve suggested that Homelander lifts the plane, but Homelander said that he can't, since there is nothing to push the plane against. He decided to flee the plane, but Queen Maeve was unwilling, she pleaded to Homelander that he would save two kids, but he refused because he believed the kids will rat them out, so he gave her an ultimatum, either flee with him or die with them. Queen Maeve reluctantly decided to leave the kids on the plane to die and flee with Homelander.

Aftermath[]

After the incident, Homelander told the news that the plane had already fallen when they arrived and they didn't make it in time, because they wasted time trying to get the necessary authorization from the authorities. He then promises that if the government allows superheroes to join the military, such incidents will never happen again. With this speech, Homelander gains massive support from the public, possibly more than he and Maeve would have gotten if they had been successful.

Among the casualties were Paul and Lily Shetty, the husband and daughter respectively of Indira Shetty, the dean of Godolkin University. Knowing that Homelander was responsible, she developed a vendetta against him and all supes, and became one of the leading masterminds behind "The Woods", an underground research operation looking to develop a deadly virus that could wipe out all supes.
