Ghani Solar Renewable Power Project by Greenko Group

Project TypeEnergy Industries (Renewable / Non-renewable Sources)

What They DoThis project constructs and operates a 500 MWac solar power facility in Andhra Pradesh, India, aiming to generate clean electricity and supply it to the state grid while displacing 887,800 tCO2e/year of greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel-based power plants. Funding is facilitated by carbon credit sales.

About This Project

  • This project involves the construction and operation of a 500 MWac solar power facility in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.
  • The main purpose of this project activity is to generate clean electricity from renewable solar energy and to supply electricity to the Andhra Pradesh state electricity grid.
  • The project will replace anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) estimated to be approximately 887,800 tCO2e per year by displacing 919,800 MWh/year of electricity from the generation-mix of power plants connected to the Indian grid, which is mainly dominated by thermal/fossil fuel-based power.  Carbon credit sales provide incremental funding necessary to successfully construct and operate the solar power facility.

Sustainability Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected goals established by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. The SDGs build upon the earlier Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) but are broader in scope, encompassing a wide range of economic, social, and environmental issues. They provide a comprehensive framework for addressing global challenges and achieving a more sustainable and equitable world. This project has the following sustainability development goals that are displayed.
