If you're looking to get geared up for Dawntrail endgame, we've got you covered with our Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Gear Guide for the 7.01 release of the game!

This guide will include mentions of endgame areas and content, so only read past the first section if you've beaten the main story for 7.0.

ilvl 690 - Artifact Equipment

Starting off, your first level 100 gear will be for free as you progress the main story. Near the end of the main questline, you'll be given access to the NPC Mewazunte in Tuliyollal. Here, you can pick up a free ilvl 690 weapon and armor set for each job.

Note that this gear can be equipped at level 99, but gets increased stats when worn while level 100. You must also complete the associated Role Quest before you can dye them.

Starting the quest "Something Stray in the Neighborhood"

ilvl 690 - Epochal Accessories

While the left side ilvl 690 gear is free, the accessories require a little more effort (and luck.) Epochal accessories drop from each of the first three level 100 dungeons: Alexandria, Tender Valley, and The Strayborough Deadwalk.

Tender Valley can be unlocked in Tuliyollal via the blue marked quest "It Belongs in a Museum", while The Strayborough Deadwalk is unlocked in Solution Nine via the quest "Something Stray in the Neighborhood".

The accessories that can drop from all three dungeons are the same, and unlike levelling dungeons you're not guaranteed to get a piece of gear for your class.

ilvl 700 - Neo Kingdom Gear

Once at level 100, completing endgame content and doing roulettes will earn you Allagan Tomestones of Aesthetics. You can carry 2000 at once, but there is no cap on how many you can earn each weak.

Tomestones can be traded to the vendor Zircon in Solution Nine for ilvl 700 Neo Kingdom gear. The costs are as follows:

  • Weapon - 500 Tomestones
  • Head, Hands and Feet - 245 Tomestones
  • Body and Legs - 410 Tomestones
  • Accessories - 180 Tomestones

ilvl 710 - Extreme Trial Weapons and Accessories

For a step above Neo Kingdom Gear, you can get ilvl 710 items by challenging the current Extreme trials. These are unlocked in Tuliyollal via the Wandering Minstrel at X: 11.1, Y: 14.7.

Worqor Lar Dor (Extreme) drops weapons, while Everkeep (Extreme) drops accessories. Both also drop guaranteed Totems that can be traded for gear directly.

The Totem vendor is found in Solution Nine, next to the Tomestone NPC. You need 10 Skyruin Totems for a weapon, and 5 Resilient Totems for accessories.

ilvl 710 - Light-heavy Equipment (Arcadion Light-heavyweight Tier)

Patch 7.01 of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail brings with it the Light-heavyweight Tier of the Arcadion. This can be unlocked via the NPC "Stylish Stranger" in Solution 9 at X: 19.2, 18.7, with the quest "A New Challenger Appears".

These first four fights require an average item level of 685 to enter. Each drops a number of "Light-heavy Holo" tokens that you can roll on, which can be traded in to the NPC Hhihwi — he's next to the other vendors in Solution 9 mentioned above — for ilvl 710 Light-heavy gear.

The tokens correspond to different pieces of equipment, and some require you to trade in multiple of that type. The amount required for each type of gear is:

  • Head - Light-heavy Holohelm x2
  • Body - Light-heavy Holoarmor x4
  • Hands - Light-heavy Hologauntlets x2
  • Legs - Light-heavy Holochausses x4
  • Feet - Light-heavy Hologreaves x2
  • Accessories - Light-heavy Holoearring x1

Each fight drops at least one of each token type, though you can only get one drop per fight each week (reset is on Tuesdays.)

The fourth fight also gives you a guaranteed Light-heavy Holoblade token each week. Seven of these are traded into Hhihwi for a Universal Tomestone. From 7.05 onwards, these will be used alongside a new tomestone to purchase better weapons.

That's all for our Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Gear Guide for 7.0! Make sure to check back as we update the guide for future patches.
