    Like less: There's a noticeable latency/delay from the controller to the screen. It is especially bad with wireless controllers. Ended up with wired controllers. Even with wires, playing PGA Gold, putting was very difficult. The swing responsiveness was not good. Playing Assasin"s Creed, when the timing isn't key, was fine.

    Overall: For the price, this is a good option for traveling or using a laptop to play.

    It is important to note that the product works. That’s what it is, there’s nothing super special about it, no real bells and whistles, it’s super simplistic. This product was definitely made for the everyday consumer in mind particularly those who don’t know what a capture card is. Keep in mind there is better out there if you’re looking for a capture card. For the price though it makes do and works okay if you’re just starting out game streaming. Now In for the nitty gritty stuff, if I kept you this long keep reading.

    Genki Arcade:

    This is the software you’re “supposed” to use with it. I don’t really suggest it but just like my title says “it works” for what it’s purpose is. To stream your game on a monitor or computer screen.

    Product itself:

    Be prepared! If you use the cord it comes with you would think “Oh! This is a nicely made cord” but here’s the thing, that’s the issue.I have plugged this in to three different consoles and 3 computer types. With the cord it comes with on my Intel i5 2018 MacBook Pro the latency was such an issue. I had so much lag it made the game almost unplayable. On my PC the input and sound was glitching like crazy. And on my M1 new 2021 Mac Desktop 24” it blackscreened. Now obviously these are all major issues right. Especially since the Macs shouldn’t be a problem since this product was made and tested specifically on Mac products. Do yourself a favor and trash that cord it came with! It’s the whole problem as to why your product is not working. The cord is trash get another USB C to USB C cord and it will work like a charm. Guess what? All my issues disappeared except for some slight lag but nothing you can’t notice unless your playing a game where you need precise timing. Like Supee Smash Bros Ultimate, Project Diva (hatsune Miku), or Overwatch for the Switch. Games like those you might have a small issue. The lag isn’t too noticeable but in games like that you will notice it more than let’s say Animal Crossing or Pokémon, less demanding titles. I used my old IPad Pro 2018 USB C to USB C because that’s what I had on me to test the waters. I can vouch for the fact that this is the one that would definitely work.

    If small latency isn’t an issue this is a very nice product for a beginning streamer. Again this is a product specifically aimed at the everyday consumer. If you want smoother game play and something that works on everything without any latency/lag at all just like all other streamers and content creators I have to suggest the Elgato HD60S+ it does the trick for $100 more. The bottom line you get what you pay for but this is a more affordable option. I ended up buying the Elgato thinking this was a lost cause but now I use this on the go with my MacBook Pro. It wasn’t a full loss. If money is the issue this isn’t terrible again it just works!

    P.S. it does not fit into the HDMI port on a PS4 Slim. Also XBox wasn’t the best gameplay experience, this is primarily for use with a Nintendo Switch 100%. I hope this review helped someone out there. I almost returned this because I thought it was a lost cause. I’m glad I tried the new cord because it’s more haste to return it. Hahaha.

    I love that this lets me play my switch on my laptop! It does have a very slight delay that is only noticeable when playing more intense games that require quick button pushing. But that is to be expected since it is really more for recording your game instead of tricking your switch into thinking your laptop is a tv.

    I wanted to be able to stream my switch to my pc so my online friends could watch me play whatever. This product does the job and the stream is way better than the last method I used did. It was a 4k External Video card that died after a single day, but this isn't that product. Though I haven't tested it since the first few days, I'm confident that it still works, unlike the other product I tried. It has its own software that displays the video without having to go through the camera app or a streamer software suite. I didn't want to have to install OBS Studio for this purpose, though it was free to use last I checked.

    Also another thing to note is that on the highest quality stream setting, it can freeze, quite possibly due to the Genki Shadowcast freezing. When that happens, turn the quality to the lower setting and then back up and that fixes it.

Unfortunately, the software doesn't hold up. I installed Genki Arcade and it has significant lag, stuttering, and other issues. Due to this, I also installed OBS and used the ShadowCast as a capture device, and it worked perfectly. I've seen comments online saying similar things, so I don't think my experience was an isolated one. Overall, if you are comfortable setting up OBS, I would still recommend this.

    There are two modes to this device. Performance mode will output at 720p 60fps and Resolution mode will output at 1080p 30 fps. I have the Shadowcast hooked up to my Playstation 5 and connected to a Thunderbolt 4 port on my base model Mac Studio (you can also use a USB C port) which is connected to an LG 4K monitor. I notice zero lag 95% of the time; the only time I notice slight lag is during very busy game action on Call of Duty Modern Warfare when there are a lot of things happening on screen. Both resolution modes are good. 1080p looks awesome. Yeah, its not 4K but I have limited desk space so can't put a dedicated 4K monitor or tv on my desk for my PS5. This is a very good solution to those that absolutely must run their gaming device output through the one monitor they have.
