First time taking it to hotel, it didn't charge multiple devices like it should
PROS:- So much more portable than Nintendo's official Switch dock- Has an extra USB plug for charging controller and/or another device (like phone or watch or whatever)- Product includes Genki's own USB-C 3.1 power cable, which is highly recommended to be used with its convert dock- Reliable 3rd party convert dock for the Switch- Multifunctioning- Casts some of the latest devices with USB-C devices, like some iPhones, Androids, MackBook, and iPad Pro- Prongs are foldable to make converter dock smaller- Product includes 3 international adapters- International adapters made to fit snugly and securely into the Genki converterCONS:- Same cost as a regular official Nintendo Switch dock- May have trouble charging 2 devices at once at hotels, or places with limited electrical output, so you should still bring an extra wall plug just in case- Does not automatically turn on the TV and change input to Nintendo Switch- May have trouble with finding enough space on wall outlet or power strip- International adapters made to ONLY fit the Genki converter.NEUTRAL/UNSURE/Personally might be asking for too much:- May or may not be able to leave Genki convert dock charging the Switch all day all night like the Nintendo dock; says to unplug device if not used for long periods of time (problem is, is 1 week too long already?)- For the price, an included HDMI cable would have been nice... even my $80 monitor and $100 TV comes with an HDMI cable.- Would have been more convenient (and clever) to combine the 3 international adapters into a single multifunctioning adapter, instead I now have 3 extra adapters to carry- You may or may not want to invest on a foldable phone stand; they're about $10.REVIEW:I do like the Genki converter dock. The main reason for buying it, like everyone else, was first, to be able to travel with it to Airbnbs, Hotels, to another state, and internationally. And this definitely makes this so much more portable to do so. Second, was to have a 2nd dock around the house so I can move the Switch from room to room with ease. With this second reason though, the Genki was not able to perform its job like I thought it would.Great For Travel and Smaller to Pack, Price Point, and Waiting to Buy:I love my Switch. I've invested a lot of money on it and so naturally, I feel like the Genki was a worthy investment as well. When I pack, this takes up about half the space in my small carry-on carry bag. It's more like a large purse. I bring the Switch in a tomtoc case with games, the Genki dock, a Pro controller in a tomtoc hard case, an HDMI cable, the Genki's power cable, and an extra USB-A to USB-C cable. Everything fits compactly and makes me feel great about bringing a piece of home with me on my travels. I feel like I waited too long to buy this, which at the time was about $60 before the inflation. Even then, I felt it was expensive at the time. But the one thing I don't regret about waiting it out is allowing the company ample time to work out all the kinks. By the time I bought this Genki dock, I had better confidence in my purchase - even if there's still a possibility of my Switch getting bricked. At least it's a lot less chance than other 3rd party docks. It's also why I didn't jump at the chance to buy their even smaller Genki dock (that doesn't include the USB-A); it's a little too new and some kinks will need to be worked out. Plus, I do have legitimate use for the extra USB-A in this bigger and older Genki dock.Does NOT auto turn on TV and change TV's input to Switch:As my official Nintendo Switch dock was able to automatically turn on the TV and change the TV's input to whichever input channel the Switch was on, I thought the Genki converter dock would have been able to do the same. The Nintendo dock can do this on both my TV's. One is a Samsung and the other a TCL brand. Without changing any of the settings, I connected the Genki dock - only to realize that the TV does not turn on automatically with this. I tried changing the TV settings after that, without any luck. Was this a big issue? No. Was it inconvenient? Yeah, a bit. A lot bit, actually. I found myself either uninterested to play the Switch, or entirely missing my Nintendo dock for its convenient auto-TV-on feature. You may say, "Wow, this lazy and picky b..." And you might be right. I also think that of myself every time I silently think how 1st-world country problem this was... and that is EVERY single time I have to search for my TV remote to turn on the TV and change the input from the Roku to the Switch.Would it have stopped me from buying this Genki dock anyways had Genki advertised that it will definitely NOT auto-turn-on my TV for me though? Probably not. I'd still buy it... and yes, at this price point (although it did take me 2 years to finally decide to take the plunge). I have to remind myself my main purpose was to buy this for traveling, and that having this as a semi-permanent fixture in my house while NOT traveling was just a bonus.A Power and Space Issue At the Hotel:I did run into a problem the 1st time I brought this to a hotel out of state. The problem had something to do with the outlet from the bed light/alarm clock/power outlet combo NOT supplying enough power to the Genki dock. I don't know how this could happen, since these things usually supply 12 amps at the least. So what happened was that I was only able to either charge from the USB-A or the USB-C, but not both together. When I moved it directly to the wall outlet or to an actual power strip, it was fine with charging 2 devices at once. I know some electrical things, like wiring a light switch, but I won't pretend to understand everything about electricity. So I have no clue why this happened. But in this case, this made me feel like the Genki dock is not that reliable for traveling - that is, I can't just bring this one Genki dock and hope it will be enough to charge ALL my devices. So from then on, I end up bringing one extra wall charger just in case the Genki dock has issues with power distribution again. The other problems I've had was that the Genki dock may possibly need to take a little more space than some of the outlets can give it.Not Too Certain If I Can Leave the Switch Continuously Plugged In:People have said it's fine to leave it plugged in, but I don't really trust that. When we drove across 3 days from a state to another state, I left my iPhone plugged into a brand new 2023 Honda. For the GPS navigation. Those 3 days ruined my iPhone's battery for good. I get a 12 hours worth of usage on a single charge now, whereas right before that I'd get 1.5 full days (32 hours) worth of usage. Perhaps it's different with the Switch, but I'm not taking any chances. So I'm very wary about leaving my Switch charged on the Genki dock for any longer than when I play it. That is, I go and unplug it every time I'm done playing it. I don't want the battery to be shot like my iPhone's. And I'm wary to tell anyone that it's fine to leave it charged for over a week or however long.Genki Dock Gets Warm:I feel like whether it's charging my Switch or not, the Genki dock stays warm when plugged into an outlet. I never felt it ever get hot, nor did I ever feel like leaving it plugged in an outlet was going to be an issue. The instructions do say not to leave it in the socket for long periods of time though. The problem is, how long is long? Is a week long? Or you mean a month? I don't go for more than 2 weeks at a time without playing the Switch at least once, so I have never taken the Genki dock off the outlet. However, I do unplug the power cable from my Switch when I don't play it, to avoid any shortened battery life in the long term.An Observation - Cables Everywhere:I think I've grown to be a massively tidy person compared to when I was in my 20's. So cables everywhere bother me a bit. The Nintendo dock is a permanent fixture, so finding a solution to hide the cables was easy. But finding a way to hide temporary cables for the Genki dock was not easy. 2 cables would just dangle out every time I unplugged the Switch from it. Not a Genki issue; just a personal observation.CONCLUSION:At the end of the day, I do have a bit of regret buying this, but I'm ultimately glad I did it anyways. The regret is mainly that it doesn't automatically turn on my TV. Yep, 1st world problems. I also worry about leaving it plugged into my Switch. So all the little things I have to do (finding the remote, looking for the right input channel on the TV, getting up to unplug the Switch every time I'm done playing) adds up, and makes me wish I just bought an extra official Nintendo dock for my 2nd room instead. Additionally, the problem with unreliable power distribution (or the Genki chip not being as smart as it should be) at hotels requires me to pack an extra wall plug just in case. BUT while I'm on the plane and I have my Switch with me, well, I'm just glad I have the Genki dock with me because otherwise, I would have very little reason to actually pack the Switch and take it with me on travels in the first place.

I've been using Genki's Covert dock this past week and I can't say enough good things about it! First off, no, this won't brick your Switch. There were some issues with third-party docks bricking Nintendo Switch systems a few years back, but Genki specifically engineered theirs to be completely compatible with the Switch.

You simply plug the Covert Dock into a wall outlet (multiple region power adapters included), connect an hdmi cable from the dock to the TV, connect your Switch to the dock via usb-c cable, and then you're good to go! The whole thing is smaller than a standard Switch power adapter and it can even function as one, so you can travel with just the Covert Dock, a usb-c cable, an hdmi cable, and your Switch, and you've got everything you need to play on the TV.

The build quality is exceptional - it's got a nice weight to it and has a slightly transparent smoke colored plastic housing. Picture quality and latency seem just as good as the standard Switch dock too. I haven't been spending as much time in hotels this year, but this thing is perfect for travel. I guess the only limiting factor would be the distance of a power outlet to the TV, and the length of your hdmi cable.

All in all, this is 5/5 for me. It's a little cheaper than Nintendo's standalone dock and it is the PERFECT accessory for the traveling Switch owner.

    All around great product!!!

Originally purchased for use with our Nintendo switch on family trips. We decided not to bring the main dock because we didn't see much need for it, if only one pwerson was going to be able to play at a time. Most of the games we had were single player. On the trip I found a sale on some multiplayer/family games, so ordered this to my hotel room. IT was perfect, small, easy yo pack with the other switch stuff.

Also tested and working with the new Valve Steam deck!!! 30W charging is a little shy of the decks 45W charger, but max draw on the deck is only 24W on default (I believe). There sould be plenty of head room to keep your charge lvl, if not a slow charge while gaming.

I've been using this Genki Switch Dock for a little over 16 month now and so far it's been rock solid.

I frequently fly out for work and this is perfect for travel. It's very lightweight and works great as a switch dock and as a charger for other devices. I just recently got a Switch OLED and it works great as a dock that model as well.

I saw some reviews mentioning overheating and video issues. I haven't experienced either, even with all the sketchy airport outlets, airplane outlets and hotels TVs I've attached it to.

This device is brilliant. It presents itself as a simple wall wart charger, but operates as a fully functional dock for Switch and supported PCs, phones, and tablets. It has a smaller profile than just the official charger. The primary drawback to this design is that your switch will just kind of lie on whatever surface is nearby, which is neither aesthetically pleasing or entirely protective. Another drawback is that it runs on some weird DisplayPort/HDMI combination protocol, so it is unlikely to work with TVs any more than 4 or 5 years old.

If you have a modern enough TV (almost any 4K Smart TV will work, even budget models like Onn from Walmart), it should work fine and picture quality is identical to the original dock.

It’s also cheaper and easier to obtain than the official dock now, and fits quite nicely in a travel bag.

Overall, well worth the investment if you have a supported display

Looooove it! This is the original portable dock and it’s the best quality a Nintendo Switch owner could hope for! This is my second one (buying as a gift for someone else.) Cannot stress how incredible this thing is.

Note for future buyers: Don’t leave it plugged in while not in use. This is noted in the manual to unplug it from the outlet when not in use; as it will constantly pull power while plugged in (Switch connected or not.)

Human Things and their Genki line has been a favorite of mine for a long time. This is a great little travel dock which lets me plug in my Switch into any TV or display I want, when I want, where I want. It’s a boon for me when I travel using hotels, but also just roaming around locally. Just make sure you have a good USB-C cable for the connection between the dock and the Switch. In case it isn’t clear: this is useful not just for Nintendo Switch. I’m able to use this dock for instance to plug my iPad Pro M1 into TV as well (not as extended display; but it’s great for me playing streaming videos or music from my ipad onto a hotel tv instead of watching their limited cable options). They worked hard on making sure this dock doesn’t brick Switches, which was a problem with many early third party docks. It’s also handy as a GaN charger in general.

Main reason for picking this up is I wanted a dock of some type for when I travel for work but didn't want to bring along the big clunky one from Nintendo. This fit the bill perfectly. Originally I would carry around a Nintendo branded charger in a backpack. This dock is perfect as it's the same size as the charger yet it allows me to charge and dock at the same time. Initially I was wondering if this was truly worth the price tag but after travelling with it a few times, oh yeah, worth every penny. You will spend way more than what this costs if you were to buy an extra charger and dock to travel with. Also it's worth mentioning that there are 3rd party housings out there that allow you to tear down a Nintendo branded dock and install it into a small compact housing. While this would have made me a travel sized dock, I would still have to carry the charger as well. That's where this thing is awesome being an all-in-one solution. I recommend this to anyone that's looking for a dock/charger to use on the go.

Worked immediately with very little setup. Exactly what I needed to hook my Nintendo switch up to the TV without the whole docking setup. Great for travelling.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good choice for the Steam Deck.

If you're buying this for the Nintendo Switch, it's probably fine. I've heard nothing but good things about using this with the Switch because that's what it was originally designed for. Since the Steam Deck came out, though, Genki has claimed on their social media and web site that this dock is compatible with the Steam Deck, which is why I bought one. I liked the idea of a dock that's little bigger than the official charger that can fit in my case. When I use it, though, it's not a particularly good experience. The USB port and HDMI output both work as expected, but the problems come from charging the Deck.

In short, it seems like the dock puts out enough power to technically power the Deck's hardware, but not enough to charge the battery while the Deck is under load and playing games.

When connected to this dock, the Deck throws a warning about a weak charger. I'm not worried about that in and of itself, and with the 30W rating of the dock compared to the official charger's 45W, I actually expected it. I would've been happy if the dock charged the Deck slowly, or even if it could simply maintain charge, but that isn't the case. Indie games and older titles seem to work fine, but AAA games that are somewhat modern, such as Horizon Zero Dawn, will draw too much power and the Deck's battery will actually drain while on the dock, albeit more slowly than usual. That doesn't sound like something I'd consider to be fully compatible with the Steam Deck, contrary to the manufacturer's claim.

The part that really irks me is the lack of support from the vendor. I went back and checked their web site in case I missed some fine print somewhere and I didn't see anything. I reached out to their support as well, but I never heard anything back both through their own contact form and when I reached out through Amazon. Effectively, you're on your own this this dock.

I bought it due to a friend recommendation and it worked well for a while but after 6 months, it stopped charging and connecting with display as well as stopped working for switch. I tried connecting to support using web form, email, discord and everything but they didn't even reply or acknowledge while it's still within warranty.

Scam company. Got contact with them through discord. But they say to contact support through Amazon. But there's no way to contact their support through Amazon. Completely scam. Don't buy
    Won't recommend.
