This is a good game, don't get me wrong, but if FromSoft makes another Armored Core game, I hope they don't do it like this.

The PvE is good if that's all you care for in these games, although I think that there's too much of a focus on bosses, (practically every mission has a boss at the end) and not all of them are very good. A lot of them are much better set pieces than they are as actual fights. I'd much rather watch someone else fight them than actually play them again.

The PvP is the biggest disappointment of this game. The exclusion of turn speed makes it so that heavyweights are insanely strong compared to past games as their main weakness and drawback is null. Trying to play a CQC lightweight against heavyweights is actually an insane uphill battle, and I give major props to anyone who is able to find enjoyment playing lightweights in this entry.

The lack of depth in your movement options also makes this game very hard to enjoy for me. I would've loved to be able to use Verdict Day's wallkick mechanics again, but all we get is an over-tuned Overedboost that you can use brainlessly to close the gap. In For Answer, using Overedboost (now called Assault Boost), would drain your Primal Armor (or PA) very rapidly, making it incredibly risky to do, as being empty on PA means that the damage you take is heavily increased. Not only does Assault Boost have 0 risk attached to it (maybe in the form of slowly building your stagger bar?), you're encouraged to use it, as it decreases the damage and stagger damage you take, while also increasing the amount of stagger damage you deal to others. The inclusion of Souls Hardlock also makes it so actually practicing your movement is pretty useless, as players can just completely counter it by pressing R3. If you want good Armored Core PvP, emulate For Answer or Verdict Day and join the Armored Core Discord and play with people.

it's okay the pvp is dogsh*t and frustratingly unbalanced though.
