I should start this by saying sorry to all the -STRIVE- babies out there,
as a former one myself I have to say this is peak Guilty Gear,
moving forward the franchise had a downfall mechanically wise, this game is the best in that regard,
not as hard as the older iterations like Accent Core which is far more complex,
but not as easy as -STRIVE-, which simplified way too much, its right there in the middle, which is just perfect.

You can get more free stuff from fishing and from the in-game currency that you earn for playing matches,
like skins for the characters, voice actor insights about different things
or different system voices which is very cool,
in -STRIVE- you don't have these features and you'll need to pay for skins or just mod them in.

The game has very distinct and unique characters ranging from your typical shoto to a guy strapped on a bed,
also the lore is insane, you might want to check that out as well.
I won't spoil anything because it's a roller coaster that one must experience for themselves.

The soundtrack is a staple to the rock genre with some mellow songs here and there, with vocals by Naoki Hashimoto and
composed by the creator of the series Daisuke Ishiwatari, who have become two unforgettable legends in this branch of the FGC. The soundtrack is the reason why I got into this fighting game so I encourage everyone who likes this type of music to listen to it.

Graphics-wise this game pioneered the 2.5D genre in which you have 3D models but instead of letting the computer generate the animations the developers add smearing effects to the animations in order to look like a 2D sprite-based fighting game,
that is a really cool transition from 2D to 3D. Keep in mind the base game Xrd -SIGN- was released in an era where PS3 was still thriving, for it's age the game still holds up with the ones that are released today because of the distinct artstyle and animations. They may have improved the graphics in -STRIVE-,
but Xrd is still miles ahead when it comes to the mechanics.

The only negative things that i can say about this game is that not a lot of people play it anymore,
the only way to play if you don't have friends is either join a discord server either pray that there player-made lobbies
in your area, when you do find players to play against, most of the time you will have to wait in line to play because there is already someone battling them. The other negative aspect of the game is that it's pretty hard to get into if you're a newbie,
you'll just end up getting obliterated without being able to do a single input by some random guy who played since the dawn of time.

This is not only a problem with Xrd but with all the older entries of fighting games today,
so there's nothing really we can do, just endure the struggle.
This can also be a good thing because whilst playing regularly,
you will bump into familiar faces and improve alongside them, becoming as good as them, and ultimately befriending them.

Some personal input about the game:

To me this game is a lot of fun even though I lose most of the times because sometimes the matches turn into the most stupid button mashing, moves clashing, blitz wars, throw wars and other various repetitive inputs in order to see who can use less brain cells for big damage. I can't help but burst out laughing when these types of things happen.

I don't know if it's just me, but even though I lost the match,
I still find satisfaction if I hit that nasty combo that removes half his health bar,
which I practiced for hours, possibly winning a round.

It's probably one of the best air dasher fighting game/anime fighting game out there.
The genre is pretty niche to begin with,
to the point where communities for certain games included here went nearly extinct.

You have to be very determined if you want to succeed here, so keep that in mind.
If you're willing to lose a lot in order to improve, and possibly get mocked by trolls please consider playing this fighting game.

Great game, bad developer.
Doesn't require any third-party launcher to play.
Has the nymphs.
IT'S RAYMAN, OF COURSE ITS GOING TO BE GOOD.
The port is kind of neglected but works fine.

His backshots are crazy, no wonder his wife gets so jealous when he talks with other women.

Bro's canonically 5 years old and 3 weeks prior to the events of -STRIVE- he looked like a twig with no sense of fashion, not even a month later he became SWELL and DRIPPY.

His secret: Uranium consumption and snorting glue.

Got it for really cheap, in fact it felt like a steal due to the content this game provides. Never been more satisfied over a purchase like this.

TF2 is a great game but being the neglected child of a billionaire company has definitely affected the state of the game.

Two words: downright unplayable.

Well it's playable but only on community servers but the average player will not dwell in those parts.

For the past like what, 5 years? the game's official servers have been infected with bots and cheaters who mic spam, use the in-game chat system to harass other players and promote their stupid bot hosting websites or discord servers.

2 years ago there was a movement called saveTF2 which caused Valve to take action, but they only put a band-aid fix by removing the ability of free-to-play players to use in-game chat when playing on official hosted servers.

Since then a lot has changed, the bot hosters have started upgrading their bots to premium in order to continue using the chat and the in-game voice chat.

As of writing this review there has been a new, improved movement called fixTF2 where again the community is basically on their knees begging Valve to do something. If you care about TF2 please sign the petition at https://save.tf/

A 17 year old game's code is pretty easy to alter hence the vile state the game is in right now. The game is still generating Valve a lot of revenue due to in-game transactions that they get with every seasonal crate update they release, just for the money.
They do nothing and still receive money.

In February last year a blog post has been released on the official TF2 site regarding updates and fixes saying that they are opened with fixes coming from the community, in the summer the update dropped, nothing really special was added only new hats, maps, and some minor fixes. They didn't even add that many fixes coming from the community like they promised.

The bot hosters are not only trolls but threats to society because there have been many cases where the people who opposed them publicly where impersonated, doxxed or EVEN SWAT-ed which is ILLEGAL and can be punished with JAIL TIME.

IT'S NO LAUGHING MATTER.

The community of this game loves it to death and is dedicated enough to ride this bot wave that has no sign of stopping.
The community is the reason why this game stood the test of time whilst other games perished.
The community is the heart and soul of this game, but the community can just sit and watch as their beloved game is getting destroyed.

My history with this game was just like any others, started playing 6 years ago, 1 year before the bot crisis, fell in love with the characters, the funny dialogue, the insane lore, the mechanics and the humorous nature of the game.
I made a lot of good and bad relationships through this game, some lasted some not, like everything in life.

The mechanics are embed into my brain which became just muscle memory, the nine distinct classes, their voices, personalities, and their iconic relationships have taken a special place in my heart than can never be forgotten or replaced.

I may be relatively new to the game in terms of its history, but the friends, moments, and feelings I have had whilst playing are irreplaceable.

As everyday passes we fight a losing battle against trolls that took it too far and negligence coming from the executives of Valve.

I write this review both as a protest against Valve and a cry of help coming from a passionate player.

I pray and hope of a better future without the bots.
