What's the pattern here? (spoiler for a 4 point pattern grid in the woods)
I've solved this puzzle using hindsights, but even after the fact I can't figure out the pattern. Can anyone help me understand?

It's a checkerboard (minus a bunch of squares). Every white tile is an even number of moves away from every other white tile, and an odd number of moves away from every black tile.

i think the intended pattern is jump from square to square using a knights (chess) move and colouring as the square would appear on the chessboard
