Contra is back - reloaded, reimagined, and reborn - with Contra: Operation Galuga! Grab your spread shot and run 'n' gun your way through explosive co-op action against the Red Falcon army!

This thorough remake of the revolutionary Contra NES/arcade game from the 1980s redeploys players to the Galuga Archipelago, where you'll take control of elite Contra commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean (as well as other warriors) and use an assortment of iconic weapons such as the Spread Shot, Laser Beam, and Homing Missiles to run, jump, and shoot your way through burning jungles, frigid mountains, a grotesque alien lair, and more. Composed and performed by Megan McDuffee, along with Dale North and special guests like Mega Ran, the vocal-infused synthpop soundtrack to River City Girls 2 is one banger after another. Anyone who's played RCG2 knows that songs like "I'm Better than You," "Get Off My Lawn," and "Megabyter" are nothing short of amazing, and you can help the rest of the world know it by nominating the game for Best Soundtrack in the Steam Awards 2023. If it doesn't make the cut, Misako and Kyoko will probably punch us in the face, so thank you for your support!

RCG2 Now Has 4p Online Co-op!

A new, free update to River City Girls 2 brings 3- and 4-player online co-op to Steam! This new feature is in addition to the previously existing up-to-4-player local co-op mode and online 2-player mode, and follows other recent performance and balance patches, allowing brawler fans to enjoy gameplay that's smoother, fiercer, and even more action-packed! Four-player online mode is crossplay enabled with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game, so assemble your crew and take down Sabu and his criminal empire!

A new balance patch is now available for River City Girls 2 on Steam as well as all other platforms in North America and Europe! Based on player feedback, this update primarily adjusts hitstop, allowing for more user-friendly combos and juggles. Thanks for continuing to enjoy River City Girls 2!

River City Girls 2 - Balance Update Public Beta

A new River City Girls 2 update is now available on the existing open beta branch! Based on user feedback, this balance update revises hitstop to make it more like it was prior to the previous update for easier juggling and combos. To access the beta branch:

From your Steam library, right click on the River City Girls 2 game title, then:

Click PROPERTIES
Select BETAS
Type in the following code: openbetabranch
Click the CHECK CODE button
Click the OPT IN button that appears
Close the PROPERTIES window
The game should now update

Please note that while beta branch players can play online co-op with non-beta-branch players, more desync and rollback is likely to occur due to the changes to physics and hitstop. Thanks for your feedback and for continuing to enjoy the adventures in River City!

River City Girls 2 Performance Update Now Available

The River City Girls 2 performance patch is now live! Thank you, everyone, for your patience. This update includes over 100 changes and adjustments of various types, and while most of them were things like "an apostrophe was missing here" or "enemies can clip through an object in this room," here is a non-exhaustive list of some of the key changes that players should be aware of.

Frame Rate/Performance:
The animation rate and camera movement have been updated for smoother gameplay, effectively displaying at 60 FPS on PC. Performance has been further improved in problematic areas such as Ocean Heights Beach Plaza and the School Auditorium.

New Game+:
New Game+ can be replayed again after defeating the final boss in New Game+ mode.

Bug Fixes:

Provie can now perform air specials and air grabs from aerial light combos.
Riki's Guard Break now always dizzies enemies.
Human Weapon can no longer be used to remove enemies from screenlock battles.
Player stats now show a full bar when maximized.
Fixed an issue that could cause the game to freeze if you defeat an enemy while equipped with both Gamer Guide and Bomb Bottom.
Coach's Hat now increases the damage dealt by all recruits.
Fixed issues causing players and enemies to occasionally go out of bounds.
Updated some Honkr mission tracking for better accuracy
Fixed an issue causing players to sometimes miss Honks and Quest rewards while transitioning through doors in multiplayer mode.
The confirm button when hiring Henchmen is now consistent.
An exploit that allowed players to avoid dying and return with full health has been fixed.
Game credits have been updated for content and scrolling speed has been updated for better readability.
Updated text in some of the Japanese motion-comic cutscenes.
Fixed various issued caused by disconnecting controllers at certain times.
Fixed various graphical issues causing shadows or other elements to not display properly.
Various typos have been fixed across all languages.
Various other minor bug fixes.

FRAMERATE FIX INCOMING!

We’ve seen reports of framerate issues from players of River City Girls 2. After investigating, we’ve discovered that although the game is outputting at 60fps on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, issues in the code are preventing certain elements from rendering at the full framerate. We believe we have a fix, although this will take some time to test and finalize. In the meantime, we’d like to make a beta version of this build available as an option to all PC owners of the game. This fix only affects Local Play for now. To participate, please follow these instructions:

From your Steam library, right click on the River City Girls 2 game title

Click PROPERTIES
Select BETAS
Type in the following code: openbetabranch
Click the CHECK CODE button
Click the OPT IN button that appears
Close the PROPERTIES window
The game should now update
