How similar to Mystical Ninja?
How similar is this game to that old Mystical Ninja games? Particularly the SNES ones that has light RPG elements? I used to play that game DAILY.

Not really that close.
"Mystical Ninja" games have, as far as I know, town sections and jump'n'run levels.
"River City Sagas" plays sorta like the town section paired with a beat em up, with a much bigger moveset.
The shops work kinda similar.

I haven't played that much "Mystical Ninja", but I've played "Goemon 1-4" to some extent, and I can savely say, that none of these titles gave me "River City" vibes.
