Manchester City are being expected by one Bundesliga club to make an approach for a star of the ongoing European Championships this summer, reports have indicated.

Those reports concern Dani Olmo, who has taken the ongoing European Championships in Germany by storm this summer, playing an integral role in Spain’s successful route to a showpiece final looming on Sunday night.

The 26-year-old scored once again for his country on Tuesday night, in what would prove to be the winning goal in a tense semi-final affair against France, taking his Euro 2024 tally to three goals and two assists across five appearances.

With Manchester City intent on recruiting in the centre of the park this summer, it comes as no surprise to learn of the Premier League champions’ admiration and interest in the player’s talents, especially with his club seemingly open to the idea of a sale.

According to the information of Sky Sport Germany, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are ‘specifically interested’ in RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo this summer, and ‘enjoy an advantage’ over Barcelona in that they can afford to pay for him.

It is once again pointed out that the 26-year-old has a €60 million release clause in his current Leipzig contract but that is due to expire this month, and as such clubs will need to move swiftly in order to activate a deal at that valuation.

Regardless of the eligibility of the release clause, the report points out that RB Leipzig will be open to discussing a deal for Dani Olmo in the coming weeks, although not for below his current market value.

At present, it is however clarified that the Premier League champions nor any other suitors have contacted the Bundesliga club, but that situation could certainly change at any given moment, and it would seem as though RB Leipzig are expecting a City approach.

Unfortunately for Manchester City and any other club eyeing the activation of Dani Olmo’s release clause, reports elsewhere have confirmed that such a fee will expire on Monday 15 July, marking a strict deadline for suitors.

City officials will likely be boosted in their hopes of recruiting Olmo from RB Leipzig this summer by the strength of their working relationship with the Bundesliga club, having purchased Josko Gvardiol just last summer.

Talks over the Croatia international centre-back progressed with little to no issues along the way, earning the German club a healthy transfer fee in the region of £77 million, as well as bringing an excellent player for immediate and long-term futures to the Etihad Stadium.
