When Calls the Heart hasn’t been the same without Fiona Miller, but the actress who plays her has been booked and busy since she exited the Hallmark series ahead of Season 10. What is Kayla Wallace doing next after leaving When Calls the Heart? We have all the details below.

What is Kayla Wallace doing next after leaving When Calls the Heart?

Kayla Wallace, who first joined WCTH in Season 6 as the beloved Fiona Miller, just wrapped filming on the new Taylor Sheridan series Landman, which is coming to Paramount+ later this year. Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is based on the 11-part podcast Boomtown and it is described as “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”

The cast features several A-list stars, including Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, James Jordan, Mark Collie and Paulina Chávez. Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia and Michael Peña will also appear on the show as guest stars. Wallace portrays Rebecca Savage, an “extremely capable and intimidating liability attorney sent to West Texas to clean up a mess.”

On July 9, Paramount announced the premiere date for Landman and released several first-look photos. The series will debut on the streamer on Sunday, November 17, with two episodes. Following the premiere, subsequent episodes of the 10-episode long first season will be available weekly on Sundays.

The WCTH alum shared one of the photos on Instagram and wrote in the caption: “MARK YOUR CALENDARS! I am beyond excited to share that @landmanpplus is premiering NOVEMBER 17th on @paramountplus♥️. Make sure you’re subscribed to @paramountplus because this is Rebecca, and she’s coming at you strong!”

The photo shows Wallace suited up as Rebecca as she meets with Thornton’s Tommy Norris and Colm Feore’s Nathan. Several of Wallace’s WCTH co-stars commented on the post and showered her with praise. “Look at you!! Playing with the heavy hitters!! So proud of you!!❤️,” Viv Leacock, who plays Joseph Canfield, wrote. “Yay!!!!!!” Andrea Brooks, who stars a Faith Carter, commented.

The show’s star, Erin Krakow, who portrays Elizabeth Thatcher, and Wallace’s real-life fiancé Kevin McGarry, who stars as Nathan Grant, also posted the photo on their Instagram Stories.

The entire WCTH cast and crew have been incredibly supportive of Wallace as she embarks on this new endeavor. The show even welcomed her back with open arms for a guest appearance in the Season 11 finale. “It was so special to have her back,” Krakow told Soaps.com of Wallace’s surprise cameo. “As for whether or not she’ll return in season 12 … She’s a busy lady. She’s got a great job that’s happening now and so we’ll have to see if she’s even available. But all of us at When Calls the Heart love Fiona and love Kayla. We’re just rooting for her.”

Executive producer Elizabeth Stewart shared a similar sentiment during an an April 2024 appearance on the Heart to Hearties podcast. “The truth of the matter is that the amazing Kayla Wallace, who plays Fiona, unsurprisingly has had some interesting opportunities in her life, which hopefully we will all learn more about in the [coming] months,” Stewart said. The EP added that Wallace is welcome to come back whenever she wants: “Of course, we all want [Kayla] to go out there and see what life has for her. Having said that, there’s no reason she can’t come back and visit … Once you’ve lived in Hope Valley, you’re always welcome to come home!”

Considering how successful Sheridan’s many shows are, however, we suspect that Wallace’s upcoming role will open the door to many other exciting opportunities. In fact, the actress just finished filming the Harland Williams-directed indie comedy Wingman.

When Calls the Heart is available to stream on Peacock.
