Here's how you can captivate virtual audiences with your presentation techniques.
Using Atemi Mini production switcher and iPad to create visual magic has been a game changer. 1. This setup allows me to write on top of my talking head using using my Apple Pencil without sharing screen. I can pull up images next to my talking head too. 2. I design my slides differently for virtual presentation. For virtual, there should be some animation every 30 seconds or so, otherwise audience will stare at a static slide with a small talking head at a corner. They will fall asleep. 3. If there is no animation for more than 3 minutes, I would exit share screen mode so that I can be with the audience.

What do you do if you're struggling with time management as a professional?
Don’t manage time, manage your energy! Find out your productive hours and non-productive hours. My productive hours are in the morning, I use it to do non-urgent but important tasks, like reading, writing and thinking. My non-productive hours are after lunch. I usually arrange meetings at 2:30pm so that I can tap onto the energy of the people I meet.

How do you become an associate professor?
If you don't have a PhD like me, you can still be an Adjunct Associate Professor. I used my 20-year banking career experience to design and teach courses in banking & finance. The students enjoyed learning through the real-life transactions I had executed in my work. They also appreciated the tips on how to get jobs in the industry. I also brought in fellow industry practitioners to share their knowledge.

How can you use audience engagement tools to make your virtual presentations interactive?
This method works like magic! At the start of my virtual presentation, I will ask participants to do this: “Pls type in the chat “PPP” which represents clapping sound to thank XXX for organising today’s session”. You will see “PPP” flooding the chat room and you have a great start to an engaging and interactive session.

How can you help someone adjust their goals if they are not making progress?
If you want to overcome stage fright, stand on empty stages, tell a story to your friends, try speaking for five min in front of five people. If you want to write a non-fiction book, don't worry about the topic and title, write one LinkedIn article a week. After three months, you will get clarity about your book and have the motivation to continue writing. So slice your goals into the smallest tasks and allow yourself a long time to achieve your goal. Keep the goal at the back of your mind, focus on the small task at hand.

Do you speak, present, or sell over video calls? https://lnkd.in/gQgq6fZh Let's face it, public speaking is challenging for many, regardless of the medium. However, virtual presentations can be a special kind of difficult. We often refer to this as "Presenting in the Box." Want to get better at it? Join Equipping Voices Toastmasters Club virtually on the 1st and 3rd Monday at 7 pm CST. Our next meeting will be Monday, May 6th. Here are six things you’ll learn: 1. The value and importance of speaking within a time frame and how to deliver impactful presentations quickly and concisely. 2. How to engage a virtual audience successfully, with energy and excitement. 3. Ways to use the entire screen -- all four sides of 'the box' -- to deliver a robust and meaningful message. 4. How to quickly craft a presentation that has a solid opening, body, and conclusion, with a powerful call to action. 5. How to recognize and eliminate distracting speaking habits such as verbal pauses, poor grammar, improper word choice, etc. 6. Most of all, how to get over the fear of public speaking, teaching your butterflies to fly in formation. Busting the Myth: "Wealth equals happiness and peace of mind." 1. 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵? A comprehensive study, China Family Panel Survey, states that wealth impacts mental health only to buffer income loss, not an absolute measure of happiness. 2. 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝘁 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀? Coming to reality, approximately 46% of individuals in problem debt are tangled with mental health liabilities. 3. 𝗜𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀? On the contrary, the recovery rate reduces significantly from common mental health issues amidst financial issues. 4. 𝗗𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀? Yes, impulsivity and memory problems during mental health crises often impact financial management. 5. 𝗗𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴? Indeed, severe mental health problems create obstacles in understanding daily chores like dealing with essential services. Just as wealth doesn't equate to happiness, it doesn't promise mental peace either. It’s crucial to shift focus from wealth creation to well-being enrichment. Many of you may have heard of the Japanese concept of "IKIGAI," which means your "reason for being." It's that sweet spot where your passion, talents, societal contribution, and financial sustenance all beautifully intersect. But did you know that the key to achieving your IKIGAI might be simpler than you think? It's easy to become engrossed in the lives and affairs of others in today's online world. We often find ourselves comparing our journey to those around us, leading to feelings of inadequacy or dissatisfaction. This constant comparison can distract us from our own path and hinder our ability to find true fulfilment. My father taught me the importance of "minding my own business" long before I even knew about the concept of IKIGAI. At first, I didn't fully grasp the significance of his advice. But as I navigated through life, I began to realise how focusing on my own goals and passions could lead to a more purposeful existence. ➡ When we get distracted by what others are doing, we lose sight of our own unique talents and desires. ➡ We start to doubt ourselves and question whether we're on the right path. The solution is simple: mind your own business. Here's how: 1. Identify your passions: What activities bring you joy and a sense of fulfillment? Pursue them unapologetically. 2. Cultivate your talents: Recognise your unique skills and strengths. Invest time and effort into developing them further. 3. Contribute to society: Find ways to use your passions and talents to make a positive impact on the world around you. 4. Seek financial stability: To create a sustainable lifestyle, align your pursuits with a means of financial sustenance. By minding your own business and focusing on these 4 elements, you can create a life that is truly your own—one that: ➡ brings you joy ➡ aligns with your values ➡ allows you to make a meaningful contribution to the world So, are you minding your own business, or are you getting caught up in the affairs of others?

Saying that we want things to change, complaining about the way things are, placing the blame on external sources - while our feelings behind these actions may be valid, they do nothing to bring about change. This does not mean devaluing others’ thoughts, ideas or them as people. Reacting to situations with anger, vengeance, or haughtiness are unproductive actions that stagnate progress and growth. Change starts with us and requires understanding, respect and the willingness to listen and communicate. Each of us has the power to be better and do better… and in using our power, we serve as inspiration for others. Acting with compassion, purpose, and intelligence may not be easy, it may take a long time, but without personally taking the first step, how can we expect anyone else to follow? #JohnVerricoLLC #ShareYourFire #July #Calendar #Challenge #BeTheSpark #torchtip #motivation #trust #opportunity #respect #communication #humanity #speaker #trainer #coach

JOT - Jai's One Thought ❗️Resilience and coping with challenges ❓️Do you believe you're resilient, and can easily cope with challenges that life regularly throws at us? ❓️Do you feel you have the tenacity to keep moving forward in life, despite obstacles? 🇯🇵"Nan korobi, ya oki. - If you fall 7 times, get up 8 times." - Meaning, aim to not let life knock you down. Everything that happens to us - health, relationships, career, finances, etc. helps us grow and become stronger, if we refuse to give up. I have that Japanese proverb written on rice paper, framed, and hanging on my living room wall, as a constant reminder to me to remain resilient. Here are 3 tips I routinely follow that could help you cope with your challenges and become more resilient: ➡️1. Develop your own coping strategies - mindfulness, meditation, social groups or communities, seeking help from trusted mentors, etc. The key is that whatever works for you might not work for others, and vice-versa. Only you know what works best for you, so develop and implement that during challenging times. By the way, for me, it's listening to music and comedy, audio books on leadership and motivation, and podcasts of inspirational speakers. ➡️2. Remain flexible - you may need to adapt to changing circumstances. Remaining open-minded, and flexible, will help you to adapt quickly to change, uncertainity, or unexpected circumstances. ➡️3. Learn from setbacks - Instead of dwelling too long on failures, or setbacks, look at them as growth and learning opportunities. What lessons did your setback teach you? How can you overcome this situation so that you're bolder, and wiser? What can you do to make your life a little easier? The above tips will help you become more resilient, and prepare yourself for future challenges. Finally, remember 💡- "There are no great people in the world. Only great challenges, and ordinary people who rise up to meet them." - William Fredrick Halsey Jr. (Former US Naval Commander during World War 2) #Resilience #Challenges #Setbacks #Copingstrategies

JOT - Jai's One Thought ❗️Making incremental progress, everyday! "It does not matter how slow you go, as long as you do not stop." - Confucius (551 BC-479 BC, Chinese philosopher, teacher, traditionally considered a paragon of Chinese sages) That quote by Confucius brings to mind the classic, Aesop's tale - The Tortoise and the Hare, doesn't it? We're often prone to what is referred to in business as - 'Analysis Paralysis' - where we focus on problems, pitfalls, and perfection, rather than progress. When living in Japan, several years ago, I came to know that the term 'Kaizen,' is also applicable to our growth in multiple areas of our lives - mental, intellectual, creative, spiritual, personal, and professional - in small, daily increments. ❓️Can we deconstruct the way we're living our lives, study the various aspects, and put the pieces back together again, but in a better way? 🔹️That would be progress, in small, or giant steps, depending on what area of your life you choose to improve, isn't it? Here's the thought I have for you, today. ❓️What 1% incremental improvement can you make in any area of your life, starting today? 💡Mathematically, if you focused on a 1% gain, daily, it would amount to a whopping 30% improvement in your life, at the end of the month, and 360% by the end of the year. Just thinking about the cumulative progress we could make in our lives, in small, incremental, baby steps, is remarkable, isn't it? #progress #growth #settinggoals #achievement

I love how we're beginning to explore the potential of living active and fulfilling lives several decades beyond the traditional retirement age of 65. We're just starting to grasp this exciting possibility. Meanwhile, younger generations are already thinking ahead—like these Singaporean elementary students envisioning their lives at 100. The question “Who will you be at 100?” is more important than the answer. You won’t necessarily be interested in the same professional activities as in your 40s and 50s. But you’ll likely still want to engage in something fulfilling and energizing. What would that be? This question has guided me deeper into my work with C-suite teams, inspiring me to foster meaningful connections and relationships, and to give back by helping others discover their potential during the deeply transformative period of midlife. My story mirrors an almost universal trait of aging, reflecting our shared desire for deeper connections and purpose as we grow older. I’m as energized as I have ever been, and I’m now 64. This question drove my decision a year ago to no longer coach executives under 40 and focus instead on the deeply transformative period of midlife, a focus that is more sustainable for my own future. My freshly published book, Soaring Beyond Midlife, was born out of this new focus, exploring how midlife naturally fosters exceptional leadership traits that were less common in our younger years (link in the comments). I’d love to hear from you. What new passions or activities do you see yourself exploring as you age? Who will you be at 100? Reflect on someone in your life who seems to be rejuvenating as they age. Celebrate their influence by sharing a moment of gratitude, and if you feel moved to, tag them to let them know how they’re impacting your journey through midlife.

Dear friends, Some years ago, a motivational speech by Les Brown reminded me of an important skill we should all hone as leaders. He spoke about the importance of listening in our lives, and it made me realize that I wasn't always the best at it. Les Brown said it best: "Listening holds twice the importance of speaking; that's why we have two ears and only one mouth" 👏. That quote stuck with me! Since then, I've been working hard to become a more active listener. I even make it a point to share the power of listening in all my training sessions. It's such an important skill for effective communication and building strong relationships! Here are seven benefits you get by being an active listener 1. Improved decision-making 🎯 - By truly understanding the issue and everyone's perspective, you can make better choices. 2. Stronger relationships 🤝 - People feel valued and heard when you listen attentively. 3. Increased trust and credibility 💯 - When you listen well, people know they can rely on you. 4. Reduced conflict and misunderstandings 🙅♀️ - By clarifying issues and identifying common ground, you can prevent problems. 5. Fostered innovation and creativity 💡 - Listening to diverse ideas sparks new solutions and approaches. 6. Enhanced problem-solving skills 🧰 - By actively listening to the details, you can identify the root cause of problems. 7. Boosted employee morale and engagement 🤩 - Employees who feel heard are happier, more productive, and more invested in their work. #listening #communication #growthmindset #LesBrown #leadershiptips

In Tai-Chi, every movement is intentional and precise. In self-defense, it's not about force but adapting, yielding, and using minimal effort to harness chaotic energy. Similarly, in leadership, responding with calmness and compassion during tense meetings or difficult conversations can diffuse situations. A mindful leader's gentle yet powerful words convey clarity and conviction, enabling effective strategy and inspiring messages. I remember a leadership meeting where I was brought in to diffuse conflict between two groups. By pausing before speaking, actively listening, and finding common ground, I led the group to a unified solution. This peaceful approach showed me how our steady energy can transform any atmosphere. Have you ever used a calm approach to diffuse a tense situation at work? Share your experience below! Join my Tai Chi course starting 10th July, 7-8 PM at Bodytree Wellness Studio. "Enough About Me" by Richard Lui Here are some key lessons from the book 1. The Power of Selflessness: Lui emphasizes the transformative power of selflessness in both personal and professional contexts. By shifting the focus away from one's own needs and desires towards serving others, individuals can cultivate deeper connections, foster empathy, and find greater fulfillment and purpose in life. 2. Moving Beyond Self-Centeredness: The book challenges readers to examine their own tendencies towards self-centeredness and to explore ways of breaking free from this mindset. Lui encourages readers to consider the impact of their actions on others and to prioritize the well-being of the community as a whole. 3. Practicing Empathy and Compassion: Empathy and compassion are essential qualities for fostering selflessness and building meaningful connections with others. Lui shares insights and strategies for cultivating empathy, such as active listening, putting oneself in others' shoes, and seeking to understand their perspectives and experiences. 4. Finding Meaning in Service: Serving others can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment that extends beyond personal gain. Lui explores the various ways in which individuals can make a positive impact in their communities, whether through volunteer work, acts of kindness, or advocacy for social justice. 5. Building Stronger Relationships: Selflessness is the foundation of strong and lasting relationships. Lui discusses the importance of prioritizing the needs of others, showing appreciation and gratitude, and fostering mutual respect and understanding in relationships. 6. Creating a Culture of Giving: Lui advocates for creating a culture of giving and generosity in society, where individuals and organizations prioritize the well-being of others and work together to address social challenges and inequalities. 7. Overcoming Obstacles to Selflessness: Lui acknowledges the challenges and obstacles that may arise on the path to selflessness, such as selfish desires, societal pressures, and fear of vulnerability. He offers practical strategies for overcoming these obstacles and staying committed to serving others. 8. Finding Balance: While selflessness is important, it's also essential to prioritize self-care and maintain healthy boundaries. Lui encourages readers to find balance between serving others and taking care of their own needs, recognizing that selflessness does not mean sacrificing one's own well-being. 9. Leading by Example: Leaders have a unique opportunity to model selflessness and inspire others to follow suit. Lui discusses the role of leadership in fostering a culture of service, empathy, and collaboration, both within organizations and in broader society. 10. Continual Growth and Learning: Selflessness is a lifelong journey of growth and learning.

Visibility is not a cliche, it is a must-have. Whether you are career professional or entrepreneur. Your Personal Brand is your most valuable asset that must not be hidden. Here are my 4 C's that can shape your journey to visibility. (1 & 3 are crucial) 1️⃣ Courage: Let me start by saying this, it takes courage to go against the norm. It takes courage to stand out, speak up and advocate for yourself. Most people are afraid to show up, step up and speak up, because they lack the courage to go against what they have been used to, or go against the norm. For some, it is the thought that they don't feel qualified to do what they want to do, or what would people say about them if they tell their story. You have to be willing to embrace challenges with boldness. You have to have the courage to be the first or the only one speaking up. Step out of your comfort zone; it's where growth happens. 2️⃣ Change: Adaptability is key. I have experienced several changes in my journey. From graduating with a degree in agriculture, to graphic design, personal branding, career coaching, consulting, public speaking, talent acquisition, podcasting. I have learnt that change is the only constant, and change is often scary. You have to embrace change as an opportunity for innovation, improvement and leadership. 3️⃣ Content: Your story and journey is worth sharing. The opportunities you are looking are hidden within your stories. I can tell you the impact, influence and opportunities I have experienced just by sharing my story, experiences and expertise with world. Many people have come to know me and work with me through my content. I often tell people, your life will be much better if you spend as much time sharing knowledge than acquiring knowledge. Share your expertise and experiences with the world. You don't have to be perfect, you just have to start. Your content establishes you as an authority in your field. 4️⃣ Community: Cultivate meaningful connections. Be very intentional about your association. Someone once said, "I can tell who you are becoming by the people you have around you." A strong network is a powerful resource.
