#CSDDD guidance: On the 25th of July – the day of the entering into force of the game-changer directive the CSDDD- the European Commission published a very practical FAQ that demystifies the complex legal text of the directive. The FAQ not only provides short and very practical information and guidance, but it also puts it black in white why the CSDDD is aimed at improving the in-scope companies competitiveness by creating a level playing field, “but also their efficiency and financial performance, preparedness for potential shocks or resource shortages and long-term resilience”. And how the CSDDD in doing the latter will also create a positive impact on people & the planet.     Having analyzed the different versions of the CSDDD text I find this FAQ highly useful. In particular the following five points are worth highlighting as they will help companies’ understanding how to approach the CSDDD in steps until the magic date of 26th July 2027 when the largest companies will need to comply:    📌 Detailed information on which EU and non-EU companies are in-scope (and why number of employees is not a criteria for non-EU companies) (4.1)  📌 Concrete examples of business activities that are in-scope for upstream and downstream value chain due diligence (5.3)  📌 An easy and step-by-step understanding of what is risk-based due diligence (6.1)  📌 A bullet-list of what practical measures companies need to adopt to prevent, mitigate and bring to an end adverse impacts (6.2)  📌 How compliance is facilitated and burden reduced for companies (8.2) Let's start the CSDDD journey now, and don't wait until 2027. 🇪🇺 Today, July 25, marks a significant milestone as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD) officially comes into force! Published in the official journal of the EU, member states will have 2 years to transfer it into national law. In 3 years, the requirements will start applying to the first group of large companies.
