In the below list, I am keeping track of all the movies and series, that I was watching each month. The first is the list of movies and then the list of series with the reverse chronological order. I only keep the list of the things, that I finished watching.

I started to keep the list during the 2022 Life movie festival (happening in November), so the data before that is not really included here.

  • Kazuhiro Furuhashi, Takashi Katagiri: SPY×FAMILY CODE: White / Spy x Family: Šifra Belo. Japan. 2023. Japanese. Cineplexx IMDBThat was a hell of a fun movie. Similar to the series, but a bit bigger. With all the usual love and misunderstandings. They do explain the main parts at the start of the movie, so it can be watched even for people not familiar with the series. Recommend for watching.
  • Hayao Miyazaki: 君たちはどう生きるか / Fant in čaplja. Japan. 2024. Japanese. Cineplexx IMDBIt was enjoyable, but it was sort of like within expectations for the Gihbli movie. So it did not feel that special even though it was a great movie. The cinema did need to restart the movie, because they started about 10 minutes into it.

  • Matthew Vaughn: Argylle. United States, Great Britain. 2024. English. Cineplexx IMDBIt was a fun movie to watch - both character, story-wise and visuals. It was trying to be clever with the twists, but it just made it more cute. Something to pass the time.

  • Tran Anh Hung: La Passion de Dodin Bouffant / Okus strasti. France. 2023. French. Kinodvor IMDBA very enjoyable movie. Also a vibe movie - don't expect the logical character development or clear plot (even when I really liked the characters). I liked that for all of them the cooking seems to be the most important thing in their life. It did not feel long at all. Recommend for watching.
  • Guy Ritche: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows / Sherlock Holmes: Igra Senc. United States, United Kingdom. 2011. English. Cobiss IMDBI forgot how fun this movie actually is. :)

  • Ayako Kouno: 劇場版 ソードアート・オンライン プログレッシブ 星なき夜のアリア / Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night. Japan. 2021. Japanese. Crunchyroll IMDBI was surprised, that I did not mind watching another version of the same thing for I don't know how many times.
  • Joe Wright: Pride & Prejudice / Prevzetnost in pristranost. United Kingdom, France. 2005. English. Kinoteka IMDBOne of the more enjoyable romantic comedies, that I had watched.
  • Minoru Ashina: 劇場版 異世界かるてっと ～あなざーわーるど～ / Isekai Quartet: Another World. Japan. 2022. Japanese. Crunchyroll IMDB The easy fast-food like comedy, one I would come to expect from Isekai Quartet. Not meant for people not familiar with franchise.
  • Nikolaj Arcel: En kongelig affære / Kraljevska afera. Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany. 2012. Danish, English, German, French. Kinodvor IMDBI could not understand why did these people allow the country to get to ruin by not keeping them in their pants and lack of communication. Ruined otherwise good movie for me.
  • Pedro Almodóvar: Strange Way of Life / Čuden način življenja. Spain, France. 2023. English. Kinodvor IMDBIf felt like I was watching a very good beginning of a movie. I would have preferred to see what happened afterwards, as this felt like just a set up.
  • Hirokazu Koreed: 怪物 / Pošast. Japan. 2023. Japanese. Kinoteka (LGBT Movie Festival) IMDBI liked how the people's framing of the situation gave completely different perspective on it and how they showed this in the movie. Still, seemed like something that could be solved by honest communication.
  • Dragan Bjelogrlić: Čuvari formule / Varuhi formule. Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia. 2023. French, Serbian. Cineplexx IMDBExcellent, very human based, (comedy,) movie. Makes one have faith in the human race, even when dealing with the consequences of the secret nuclear weapon program. Recommend for watching.
  • Alen Pavšar: Šepet metulja. Slovenia. 2023. Slovenian. Cineplexx IMDBA good presentation of both how badly society here deals with differences and how differences in people can help. Would prefer if it would not be economic activity, but still. The lead played by an actual autistic person. Recommend for watching.
  • Ridley Scott: Napoleon. United Kingdom, United States. 2023. English. Kino Bežigrad IMDBProbably the most boring movie I watched in a while. It did not feel like it had the coherent story, but it also did not provide a good impressionistic feeling. Not sure what the movie wanted to achieve here.
  • Nia DaCosta: The Marvels / Marveli. United States. 2023. English. Cineplexx IMDBA fast-food like comedy, that had me laughing through the entire movie.

  • Oleh Malamuzh, Oleksandra Ruban: Мавка. Лісова пісня / Mavka: Zaščitnica gozda. Ukraine. 2022. English (Slovenian). Cineplexx IMDBA nice, enjoyable, feel-good fairy tale.
  • Takeshi Kitano: Kubi. Japan. 2023. Japanese. Kino Bežigrad (Liffe) IMDBI have to say I expected something different. There was not a single character that I really liked, but it was still mostly enjoyable ride.
  • Andrew Legge: Lola. Ireland, United Kingdom. 2022. English. Kinodvor (Liffe) IMDBA really good, time-travelling, war comedy. I loved that the most important relationship was between the sisters, which was great to watch. One of them being a mad scientist made it even better. It was really enjoyable. Recommend for watching.
  • Jalmari Helander: Sisu. Finland, United Kingdom. 2022. Finish, English. Cankarjev Dom (Liffe) IMDBA enjoyable shooter movie. Seeing the women go from captive to taking over a tank was enjoyable - we need more badass women. It was nice, how the main character only had the lines in the last minute of the movie - his presence was enough otherwise.
  • Tina Satter: Reality. United States. 2023. English. Kino Bežigrad (Liffe) IMDBA good reminder that States definition of the terrorist and traitor is... not the same as I would use. Otherwise surprised how much could they achieve with almost no stage changing and mostly just talking.
  • Nikolaj Arcel: Bastarden / Pankrt. Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany. 2023. Danish. Kino Bežigrad (Liffe) IMDBOn one hand, I liked how people had layered motivations. On the other hand, if they realised the changes in themselves quicker, a lot of drama could be avoided. Still, I enjoyed the movie.
  • Mamoru Oshii: 血いともだち / Krvne prijateljice. Japan. 2022. Japanese. Kino Bežigrad (Liffe) IMDBA vampire comedy I am surprised that we did not get before. Enjoyable movie, that knew how to play around with troupes and which to keep and which to ignore.
  • Pawo Choyning Dorji: The Monk and the Gun / Menih in puška. Butan, Taiwan, France, United States. 2023. English, Dzongkha. Cankarjev Dom (Liffe) IMDBOne of the best comedies that I have watched this year. The way how cultural differences and misunderstandings were used for situation comedy and how it exposed the problems with our society at the same time was masterfully done. Recommend for watching.
  • Marco Bellocchio: Rapito / Ugrabljen. Italy, France, Germany. 2023. Italian. Cankarjev Dom (Liffe) IMDBA very watchable movie. I liked how they did not just go with the happy ending, but made it clear that experiences like that change people and how they relate to one another.
  • Terence Davies: A Quiet Passion / Tiha strast. United Kingdom. 2016. English. Kinodvor IMDBAn alright movie. What I liked about it is Emily's personality.

  • Goran Kulenović: Smrt Djevojcice sa Zigicama / Smrt deklice z vžigalicami. Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 2023. Croatian. Cineplex IMDBJust what I would expect from the Croatian crime/mystery movie.

  • Neill Blomkamp: Gran Turismo. United States, Japan. 2023. English. Cineplex IMDBDuring the movie, I could see where they were trying to increase the expectation. But the movie was so predictable, that it feel dead. Still, they did knot know to make me emotional.
  • Sarah Gavron: Suffragette / Sufražetke. United Kingdom, France. 2015. English. Cobiss IMDBI was surprised how much I liked this movie. Also a good presentation of why pushing people too much stops working at one point.
  • Kenneth Branagh: A Haunting In Venice / Smrt v Benetkah. United States, United Kingdom, Italy. 2023. English. Kino Bežigrad IMDBAn enjoyable crime/mystery movie. It has been move a decade since I read it, so I had been surprised multiple times. Liked how people changed as part of it.
  • Céline Sciamma: Portrait de la jeune fille en feu / Portret mladenke v ognju. France. 2019. French. DIH IMDBI liked, how they could play both with the strength of the feelings but also how the circumstances do not always allow the easy sailing and happy ending.

2023-08

  • Christopher Nolan: Oppenheimer. United States, United Kingdom. 2023. English. Kinodvor IMDBI think this was a well filmed comedy. It did not feel too long.
  • Greta Gerwig: Barbie. United States. 2023. English. Cineplex IMDBA very enjoyable comedy. Really liked the nods to the aro and ace readings of the Barbie.
  • Mario Martone: Nostalgia / Nostalgija. Italy, France. 2022. Italian. Kinodvor IMDBTo enjoy the movie, I needed to see it as an impressionistic movie. Because otherwise the main character can appear... way too blind to the reactions of people around him. Ending was also fitting but not that satisfying.

  • Wes Anderson: The Grand Budapest Hotel / Grand Budapest Hotel. United Kingdom, Germany. 2014. German, English, French. Kinodvor (Kino pod Zvezdami) IMDBA really funny and enjoyable movie. The three of them could have made such a great group.
  • Justine Triet: Anatomie d’une chute / Anatomija padca. France. 2023. French. Kinodovor (Kino pod Zvezdami) IMDBI know the movie wanted me to question the main character... but the prosecutor was so annoying, I did not care if she did it, I just wanted her to win. How dare he use bisexuality and the books she wrote as relevant evidence for murder!?
  • Oliver Hermanus: Living / Živeti. United Kingdom. 2022. English. Kinodovor IMDBA inspirational movie, that I think I would not mind watching again at some point. A great reminder, that all of our actions matter.

  • Kali Thomas: Ace Date. United States. 2022. English. Site IMDBWay too relatable (even if none of my dates went like that).
  • Cristian Mungiu: R.M.N. / MRI. Romania, France, Sweden. 2022. Romanian, Hungarian, German, English, French. Cankarjev Dom (Liffe po Liffu) IMDBA well created movie. I liked how they tackled the discrimination topic and how it is not just two sides of it - people discriminated against can still discriminate other people. A bit too depressive for me and I did not understand the ending.
  • Harry Bradbeer: Enola Holmes 2. United Kingdom, United States. 2022. English. Netflix IMDBAnother fun, adventure movie. I think I preferred this one to the first one - maybe because it actually showed how different people could work together. Otherwise pretty similar to the first one.
  • Harry Bradbeer: Enola Holmes. United Kingdom, United States. 2020. English. Netflix IMDBA fun, adventure movie, if you can live with their unconventional choices (like forth wall breaks). Does not feel like a Sherlock Holmes movie and I did not like what they did with Mycroft.

2023-04

  • Carla Simón: Alcarràs. Spain, Italy. 2022. Catalan, Spanish, English. Cankarjev Dom (Liffe po Liffu) IMDBI can appreciate, that the movie was well made. But it was just such a depressive movie with the ending that did not resolve anything and just gave a feeling, nothing could win against the capitalism. Not my type of movie.

  • Pawo Choyning Dorji: ལུང་ནག་ན / Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom. Butan, China. 2019. Dzongkha. Cankarjev Dom (Liffe po Liffu) IMDBI enjoyed the movie. Especially the message about the goals and the future - we do not know what we will enjoy and where we will find our place.

  • Martin McDonagh: The Banshees of Inisherin / Duše otoka. Ireland, United Kingdom, United States. 2022. English. Cankarjev dom (Liffe po Liffu) IMDBI know it is a good movie, but it was just so frustrating and depressing to watch. Not my type of movie.
  • Makoto Shinkai: 天気の子 / Les Enfants du Temps. Japan. 2019. Japanese. DVD IMDBIt was a good movie, but I have to say that I preferred My Name among his works. I found the ending message interesting - a different perspective on the responsibility.
  • Harold Ramis: Groundhog Day / Neskončen dan. United States. 1993. English. Kinoteka IMDBHonestly, I was disappointed, that it was love that broke the time loop.
  • Alain Chabat: Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre / Asterix in Obelix: misija Kleopatra. France, Germany. 2002. French. Kinoteka IMDBA fun, light-hearted easy movie, meant to make people laugh and nothing else.

  • Park Chan-wook: 헤어질 결심 / Dvojna prevara. South Korea. 2022. Korean. Cankarjev Dom (Liffe po Liffu) IMDBIt was a good movie and I liked how them made all of them sail between their feelings, other feelings and their own responsibility. And how there are no easy answers to that.

  • Guy Ritchie: Sherlock Holmes. United Kingdom, United States, Germany. 2009. English. Cobiss IMDBAn enjoyable movie that feels like a Sherlock Holmes movie (lets admit, the Sherlock Holmes in the Doyle canon is ridiculous character).

  • Manuela Martelli: 1976. Chile, Argentina. 2022. Spanish. Liffe IMDBIf you want a depressive movie, where people profiteering from the system can not help the ones that are hurt by it, then watch this. Not my type of movie.
  • Lee Sang-yong: 범죄도시2 / Racija v Hanoju. South Korea. 2022. Koreian. Liffe IMDBA funny shooter movie, that made me laugh so hard, I was reprimanded by my neighbour in the cinema. I do hope the police work does not look like that in real life. Recommended for watching.
  • Stephen Frears: The Lost King / Izgubljeni kralj. United Kingdom. 2022. English. Liffe IMDBA funny and light-hearted movie. Which is surprising, since it deals with the problems of academia, when it comes to research. Still, a hopeful story.
  • Jean-Jacques Denis, Anthony Roux: Princesse Dragon / Zmajska princesa. France. 2021. French. Liffe IMDBA really comfy and nice fairy-tale movie.
  • Marie Kreutzer: Corsage / Korzet. Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, France. 2022. German, Hungarian, French, English. Liffe IMDBAn enjoyable movie, that tastefully deals with the women discrimination, even when one is in the royal level of the society. And how this can influence people's decisions.
