Corey Mitchell is an investigative reporter at the Center for Public Integrity, where he focuses on stories that reveal how federal laws and policies affect the lives of children. He joined Public Integrity in 2021 after working as a reporter and editor at Education Week and a Washington correspondent and education reporter for The Star Tribune.
Corey is a six-time winner of the National Association of Black Journalists’ Salute to Excellence Award and three-time winner of the Dateline Awards given by the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. He was part of teams that won a national Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association and a Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. The Associated Press Sports Editors, Education Writers Association, Institute for Nonprofit News, National Homelessness Law Center, Investigative Reporters and Editors, Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists and Michigan Press Association have also honored his work.
