We receive many legally insufficient notices of infringement regarding allegedly infringing material on the Yahoo network. We typically do not take the requested action on notices where they lack the required element(s) of a notice of infringement listed in our Intellectual Property Center. What makes a legally sufficient Copyright / DMCA notice? Here's an example that we received via our Copyright / DMCA online form, which contains the following required elements:
- Identification of Copyrighted Material
- Specificity regarding the alleged infringement (Specific URLs)
- Contact Information
- Required Statements
- Physical or Electronic Signature
