Enjoyed reading The Starch Solution because while it made sense in print it actually worked when I put it to the test. At this point, I'm down 30 lbs without being deprived or having to count calories. So much helpful information, plus there are easy recipes in the back.

Solid health advice from a medical doctor with decades of experience using a starch-centered, low-fat vegan diet to help people improve their health. Not a lot of new information for me since I've read most of the author's previous books and monthly newsletter, but I do enjoy McDougall's writing style, and the fact that he backs up his recommendations with references in published, peer-reviewed medical journals. Mary McDougall's recipes are great too.

If you haven't learned by now, for every diet someone comes up with (with science to back it) someone else will have an opposite diet (with science to back it) here is a free book. Eat the foods that make you feel good and exercise.

At the McDougall Live-In Program in Santa Rosa, California, he cared for patients and taught medical doctors and students to avoid drugs and surgery by using food to cure common diseases.
