Hi Jenn! I’ve seen a handful of big name chapter books where I’ve had a hard time pinning down info about the author/book deal. They often don’t have acknowledgements in the back of the book. Some of them don’t seem to have their agents listed on their website and some don’t have deal announcements in Publishers Marketplace, which then also makes it hard to find their editors. Is it common for chapter books to not get announced on PM? And if so, is there a reason?
The thing is, there's no category in Publishers Marketplace for Chapter Books. (To head the next question off at the pass, the only Children's categories in PM are: MG Fiction, MG NF, PB Fiction, PB NF, YA Fiction, YA NF, Graphic Novel and Fantasy. No I have zero clue why there is a separate "Fantasy" section, when most people, if it was a YA fantasy or a MG fantasy, would …

Need A USB Sniffer? Use Your Pico!
Ever wanted to sniff USB device communications? The usual path was buying an expensive metal box with USB connectors, using logic analyzers, or wiring devboards together and hacking some software to make them forward USB data. Now, thanks to [ataradov]’s work, you can simply use a Pi Pico – you only need to tap the D+ and D- pins, wire them to RP2040’s GPIOs, and you can sniff communication between …

The Babylonian Map of the World
The British Museum has posted the above video about the Babylonian Map of the World, a nearly 3,000-year-old clay tablet inscribed with Akkadian script and a schematic map that is often called the oldest map in the world. The video, part of the Museum’s Curator’s Corner series, focuses on the discovery in 1995 of a missing section of the tablet, and what the inscriptions mean. Here’s the Museum’s collection listing …

Three Episodes of the Sahm Rule Triggered
Recent vs. 2008 and 2001 recessions. In the 2001 and 2008 recessions, the Sahm Rule (real time) threshold is passed when unemployment is rising mostly due to rising unemployment count (and not due to rising labor force). Figures 1 and 2 show the real time Sahm Rule measure (black line) vs. decomposition of contributions to change in unemployment rate. Figure 1: Real time Sahm rule indicator (black, left scale), and …

    ED'S DAVY CROCKETT TOYS
Woodsy and Fellow MoonbasersI was never really into collecting toys by Comansi and this one lone header bag of toys was sold off years ago.Fortunately, I still have the photos. IN PRAISE OF MINER’S BENEDICT IN ROYSTON SPOONS
July 2024. Royston. From St. Albans to Waterbeach via breakfast in Royston. If ever an English market town deserved the title “unheralded” it’s Royston, with much to be unheralded about. But in 2017, this was the site of the famed Wetherspoons Riots, when this chap kicked up a fuss over a faulty fruit machine. “The real drama came on the way back to the bar, where an Irish chap was …

    Saturday Ramblings
Today was pretty calm Saturday. It's supposed to be Winter, but here in Brazil that's just a word. It wasn't super hot, but I'd much rather have more defined seasons, meaning, I want cold weather in the Winter. I guess that's what happens when we screw our planet.Anyways, I went to a coffee shop today, I should've take pictures of the place but I didn't, but believe me, it was …
