2023 the pavs game awards
2023 brought out yet another fantastic group of finalists for the Pavs.
This year we received around 50 submissions from studios and indies across New Zealand and Australia, which our judges and jury whittled down to these very deserving winners.

2022 the pavs game awards
Despite the best efforts of Covid-19 to disrupt things, the Pavs 2022 was a great success with over 50 entrants!
With such a stellar field of contenders our judges and jury were always going to have their work cut out for them. In the end they prevailed and managed to find the cream of the crop for 2022.

2021 the pavs game awards
In 2021 The Pavs returned yet again with more brilliant entries from across New Zealand and Australia.
The competition was fierce, but eventually our judges and jury were able to choose winners from a list of 24 finalists!

2020 the pavs game awards
Due to the impact of Covid-19, the Pavs 2020 took on a different form, with the ceremony prerecorded and streamed to over 250 unique users.
In brighter news, 2020 saw some of the toughest competition in Pavs history. Further, an unprecedented volume of physical games submissions led to the reintroduction of a physical games category: The Tactile Taste.

2019 the pavs game awards
From 2019, the Play by Play awards took up the new name of The Pavs as part of the wider NZGF rebrand.
This year saw over 80 entries from New Zealand and Australian game studios and indies, as well as the return of our industry player awards.

2018 play by play awards
In its final year under the Play by Play banner, our awards night saw its greatest number and calibre of entries yet.
In addition, 2018 saw the arrival of our well-loved quirky award titles and two individual industry player awards.
2017 play by play awards
In it’s sophomore year, the Play by Play Awards added the Tabletop Award and grew exponentially from its inaugural ceremony.
