Westpac is delighted to announce our first third party Open Banking integration is now live with BlinkPay. BlinkPay is a Māori fintech company that enables businesses to accept customer payments direct from a bank account. Westpac Chief Information Officer Russell Jones congratulated BlinkPay and said there were a number of companies close to activating their integrations with Westpac. He said it was exciting to finally see Open Banking in action: “It’s been great to see the banking industry come together and make this happen via Payments NZ. “Our first integration with BlinkPay is the culmination of a massive piece of work and we know it’s going to open the floodgates for more providers to connect over the next couple of months. “We look forward to welcoming further third parties into our ecosystem and helping provide customers with more choices when making payments.” BlinkPay Chief Product Officer and co-founder Adrian Smith (Ngāpuhi) said he was delighted one of Westpac’s first Open Banking integrations could be a company founded here in New Zealand with roots in Te Ao Māori. “We’re thrilled to be at the forefront of bringing more choice, better security and simpler financial management to Aotearoa.” You can learn more about Blink Pay at blinkpay.co.nz. We’ve been helping New Zealanders find the right financial solutions to suit their lives since 1861. Congratulations to our kaimahi (staff) who recently completed a 20-week Tikanga Māori programme in partnership with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. The final wānanga was held last week at our Takutai Square offices in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Graduate Heiko Jonkers said the course was "fascinating and enlightening". "I learned not just what tikanga is, but its significance in both traditional and modern contexts. I’m grateful for the experience and encourage others in the Westpac whānau to explore and learn more.” Whaowhia te kete mātauranga (fill the basket of knowledge) #TogetherGreater #WestpacDoubleYou

Reuben Tucker, our Managing Director Institutional & Business Banking, loves to set himself epic challenges to help out great causes. Earlier this year, he took part in an extended #ChopperBikeRide, cycling 870km (!!) from Christchurch to Queenstown to help out Chopper trusts. Now, he's saddling up again (though in slightly warmer conditions!). Reuben, along with 16 other riders, is taking part in the Cure Kids Fiji 500, a four-day, 500km ride around the island of Viti Levu, to raise funds for the Cure Kids Fiji Oxygen Project. More details here https://lnkd.in/g8dDEbwv All Westpac NZ employees get two volunteer days each year to help out a cause they're passionate about, as well as five wellbeing days to use for whatever's important to them. Nice work on using yours for such meaningful challenges Reuben! 🚵♂️ 💪 💛 #WestpacDoubleYou #TogetherGreater Marc Figgins Martin G.
