We believe in the immense enabling potential of delivering virtual reality to browsers with WebVR. The Immersive Age is dawning, and we think it should be for everyone.     Final push! The last week before the summer holiday is always a struggle to balance getting everything done, but at the same time mentally disconnecting from work. 🌞 June 21st we took our lovely group of coworkers to this years summer party; a short getaway to our local island just outside of the city center. 🏝️ Munkholmen has been the base of various things; a monastery, a jail, a tourism destination, and for this night it was the base and feeding ground of the most talented people we know. Thanks to all our supporters, partners and clients for a magical first half of 2024, see you in August for creating more great experiences! 🙏

    What does a World War II bunker and children's laughter have in common? Imagine walking through and iterating on your wildest ideas before they even exist—thanks to VR that’s now possible! 🚀 In our latest blog we do a deep into how we collaborated with Vitensenteret i Trondheim to transform an old WWII bunker into a vibrant science center. Using VR we were able to quickly visualize and refine their ideas for the new science center in an immersive environment that let them glimpse into the future. 🔮 Åshild Adsen put it beautifully during our interview: "The VR experience shows us that if you bring colors, models, exhibitions, and a lot of noise into this bunker, it will come to life and it will be transformed from a war atrocity into a lively, hopeful place.     This is the most powerful Houdini ever! SideFX Software really proved once again that they are masters of software devolopment, and all that without focusing on AI, as Cristin Barghiel said in the intoduction "We watch the hype, we don't take part in the hype" They listen to their users and implement new features accordingly. Not too far into the future I can see that Houdini can almost be a full production package, replacing most tools out there. This is a subscription that people are happy to pay, it's very fair. I think Adobe can learn a lot from this company and how they treat their users, especially since Houdini is a HUGE competitor and way far ahead when it comes to 3D, and #Copernicus can now be a direct replacement for Substance Designer, with way more flexibility since it's integreted directly in Houdini ecosystem. So excited to see the awesome stuff people are going to make using these awesome features! #Copernicus #Houdini #Cops

    More queer characters!🙏 Pride month is slowly coming to an end, and yesterday The Norwegian Film Institute published a report describing how the lack of diversity is still a challenge in Norwegian games: 🕹 - Norwegian computer games have an even distribution of female and male main characters. But there are few opportunities to experiment with identity. Specifically they are mentioning queer, or disabled characters. 🏳️🌈 ➡️ What kind of funding or focus needs to be available for you to experiment more with characters in your next project?

    We’re hiring.....again 😅 🚨 We’d be very concerned if we didn't know: ➡ that we're hiring more staff because our workload is increasing rapidly! ➡ that we have ample space for all new team members in our Trondheim office, thanks to our foresight in expanding the office last year! ➡ that we have effective systems and routines in place to ensure all new hires receive excellent onboarding and support!     This week, Martin, Sindre, and Marius journeyed to "Spillkonventet" in Oslo. Here’s a short rundown of what’s happening in the Norwegian gaming scene! Norway's gaming industry is clearly growing with many projects showcasing high-quality art and design, but faces challenges in funding, marketing, and sustainability. We saw some fantastic games: 📱 Dicetris by Leik Games: A pleasant yet challenging mobile game. ⛷️SNØ by Studio Gauntlet: A Beautifully designed snowboarding pc game who are doing an awesome job with weekly builds and player feedback. 🧑🌾 Crop by Carbonara Games: A unique blend of relaxed farming-style gameplay with intriguing Twin Peaks-like elements! A few key takeaways: 📖 Jane Ng emphasized that while there's no single correct way to structure an organization, planning the structure before starting a project is crucial. 💵 Investors fund the company, while publishers invest in specific projects. Interestingly, publishers have a better track record of turning a profit! 🎮Red Rover Interactive is doing some groundbreaking work with their lean startup approach to game development. Overall Spillkonventet showcased a vibrant array of projects and provided valuable insights into both the creative and business side of game development. ✨ Given the fear/excitement around AI in tech and gaming, we were surprised generative AI wasn't really in the spotlight. How are you feeling about the role of AI in game development? 🤖
