It was great to see the BNEF and Climate Technology Coalition whitepaper, "Scaling Up Hydrogen: The Case For Low-Carbon Methanol" published last week. 👏 🌱 This report underscores the pivotal role that low-carbon methanol is set to play in the energy transition, accelerating clean hydrogen demand. Low-carbon methanol is a solution already available today, not only for the decarbonization of the chemicals market, but also as the most readily available option for the shipping sector to reduce its emissions. With EU regulations and the International Maritime Organization's net-zero goals driving the shipping sector to procure lower carbon fuels, BNEF estimates that global low-carbon methanol projects could consume 1.65 million metric tons of clean hydrogen annually. The OCI Nitrogen team shared their insights on the innovative power of crop production and agricultural technology at the DLG Feldtage 2024 conference in Germany last week - taking crop production to the next level!   Our spotlight at the event was on our Advanced product range, featuring our Novo products, which are Bio-based and certified. Our commitment to helping farmers and customers lower their carbon footprint was front and centre of discussions, reflecting our dedication to sustainable practices to lower emissions throughout the entire supply chain. Inspired by the theme of thinking out of the box, this international event brought together 370 exhibitors showcasing the latest advancements in crop production and agricultural technology. Yesterday we celebrated the Grand Opening of our European AdBlue®facility in Geleen, Netherlands. Thanks to our valued customers, partners and colleagues who helped to make it a special day. 💙 AdBlue® is a mixture of urea and demineralized water used in diesel engines to reduce harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides. 🚛 OCI’s AdBlue® is already serving customers across the growing North-Western European automotive market, where the reduction of harmful emissions is an increasing regulatory focus and key driver of demand. 📈 OCI has capacity to produce up to 300,000 tonnes a year of AdBlue® in Europe, with potential to expand in line with market demand.     Thank you to our brilliant team in Geleen, and across OCI Global who have ensured a speedy, smooth and successful start to the supply of AdBlue® by OCI in Europe.     The addition of AdBlue® to OCI Global’s production portfolio is a further example of our commitment to sustainable growth and value creation. We are pleased to announce that we have selected Waga Energy to produce Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) at our City of Beaumont Landfill facility. The RNG will be used to support our increased production of #OCIHyfuels green methanol. A key pillar for the energy transition, RNG is a local, renewable energy source that can substitute fossil natural gas:   💫 The RNG will be produced via a gas collection system on the City of Beaumont Landfill to recover the landfill gas spontaneously produced by organic waste. This gas will be upgraded into RNG through a WAGABOX® unit and injected into the nearby gas infrastructure. 💚 The facility will avoid up to 27,440 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually, equal to cutting the emissions from 2.8 million gallons of gasoline per year.* 🌟 As well as reducing CO2eq emissions, obtaining biogas from landfill captures and uses methane that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere. Celebrating our latest #greenmethanol bunkering!   Yesterday #OCIHyFuels green methanol was supplied to X-Press Feeders' first methanol-powered vessel during simultaneous operations at the Port of Singapore, as it makes its maiden voyage to Europe. 🌳 OCI Global will supply X-Press Feeders with OCI HyFuels green methanol for their new-build methanol dual-fueled common feeder ships from the Port of Rotterdam. 🚢 The partnership connects a vital link in the chain for the decarbonization of shipping, creating an end-to-end green fuels solution. ⚓ The green methanol will be used to fuel X-Press Feeders’ dual-fuel vessels servicing European ports. 🌍 OCI Global is the world's largest producer of green methanol and a leader in lower carbon ammonia, both of which have significant potential as a future marine fuel. 📈 Today, there are over 270 methanol dual fuel newbuild and retrofit ships on order, representing over 7.5 million tonnes a year of potential additional methanol demand.   Thank you to our colleagues at X-Press Feeders, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Global Energy Trading, Vopak, PSA Singapore and other partners who have helped towards this significant milestone towards maritime decarbonization. 

Last week Keshni Sritharan joined colleagues and policymakers from across the #Hydrogen industry at #WorldHydrogen2024 in Rotterdam to highlight our Texas Blue Clean Ammonia Project, with Lorenzo Fernandez de Villavicencio from Linde.   They shared learnings and insights from the project so far, and reflected on the opportunity for #bluehydrogen and #blueammonia to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries:   ⏩ Blue ammonia is likely to overtake green as the first lower carbon solution, as the more economically viable choice in the short term and significant enough carbon reduction benefits to meet regulatory thresholds. 🥇 Texas Blue Clean Ammonia benefits from several first mover advantages and is the only largescale greenfield blue ammonia project to be under construction globally. 💙 The facility will use blue hydrogen from Linde, with >95% of scope 1 GHG emissions from the hydrogen production captured and permanently stored. 💡 The facility benefits from an optimized cost structure linked to carbon intensity which offers comparative advantage relative to typical grey ammonia export. ✔ OCI Global is targeting a carbon intensity for the blue ammonia produced at the site to be comparable to green ammonia under CBAM requirements in Europe, providing an advantage for decarbonizing the fertilizer, power and industrial sectors in Europe and elsewhere. 🚢 Blue ammonia has cost competitive potential to be used as a shipping fuel and demand is expected to kick off from 2027 with the commercialization of the ammonia engine.
