Federally Funded R&D Centers Report 13% Increase in R&D Spending in FY 2023

Annual research and development spending by the nation's 42 federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs) rose 12.7%, totaling $29.3 billion in FY 2023. The federal government funded 98.5% ($28.9 billion) of this total; nonfederal sources funded the remaining 1.5% ($436.9 million).
