Creating a Better World

Perihal kami

The World Organization of the Scout Movement is a worldwide, non-profit organisation of over 57 million members, operating through a network of local groups supported by 175 National Scout Organizations. For over one hundred years the Scout Movement has contributed to building a better world through the personal commitment of hundreds of millions of young people living up to their Scout Promise. Scouting’s mission is to contribute to the education of young people through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law and to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. This is achieved by: - Involving them throughout their formative years in a non-formal educational process - Using a specific method that makes each individual the principal agent of their development as a self-reliant, supportive, responsible and committed person - Assisting them to establish a value system based on spiritual, social and personal principles expressed in the Promise and Law. Recognising today’s problems, World Scouting is prepared for future challenges: building on its experience, it looks toward the future with renewed enthusiasm as new generations of young people join in to “play the game” that will make them the future leaders of social change, breaking the barriers, and building peace.

  • By 2033, our vision is to be the world's most inspiring and inclusive youth movement creating transformative learning experiences for every young person, everywhere. 👏 Inspired by the ideas and energy of a global community of more than 57 million Scouts and volunteers, we want to continue to lead the way as an inclusive, sustainable and impactful movement. ⚜️ In the next decade, we want Scouting to be innovative and engaging - connecting young people together from around the globe, and offering them opportunities to discover their identity, learn new skills, and be ready for life. • Our proposed Strategy for Scouting includes three impact statements that highlight the impact that Scouting can have on the world around us. 🌍 We envision a world where young people are empowered to be changemakers for peace and inclusivity. Together we want to celebrate diversity, promote empathy through dialogue, and advocate for human rights and equality. We also want to ensure young people everywhere can benefit from Scouting’s education programme, and that as a Movement we contribute to the peace and sustainability of our planet. 🕊️ We see a world shaped by youth, where young people can overcome barriers, connect with people from other cultures and backgrounds, and be actively involved in deciding the future of their communities. Our future is one where young people are global citizens who are ready to tackle local challenges and step into leadership roles. 🧍♀️🧍 Finally, we imagine a world that is healthy and sustainable. One where young people feel empowered as educators and advocates to be champions for environmental sustainability. Together with a global network of partners, we want to promote the use of green technologies, and challenge Scouts to take local actions that promote sustainable communities and living. 🌳🌿 To learn more about the proposed Strategy for Scouting ahead of the World Scout Conference, head to https://lnkd.in/eFsZp2iQ #Scouts #WorldScouting #StrategyForScouting #Youth #YoungPeople

  • Yesterday we explored the strategic priorities for Scouting organisations, so today let’s dive into the proposed priorities for the Scout Movement. ⚜️ One of our top priorities is the safety and well-being of Scouts - ensuring strong safety measures, comprehensive training, and support systems are in place for everyone. We also want to recognise and value the millions of volunteers involved in Scouting, offering them flexible, inclusive and enriching volunteering opportunities. 💜 As a Movement, we want to innovate how we deliver transformative learning experiences for young people that are rooted in nature and education for sustainable development while using the latest digital tools and technologies. 🌳📲 Scouting will also promote diversity and inclusion by removing barriers to participation, reaching out to new communities, and educating about equity and human rights. • World Scouting welcomes the third Youth, Peace and Security report of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres which was presented to the UN Security Council on the 28th of May. It highlights how young people worldwide contribute to promoting peace but also underlines the challenges faced by young people as peace promoters and the most affected groups in conflict contexts. The report shows progress in recognising young people’s agency in contributing to peace. Specifically, it recognises Scouting’s youth-led UAct, a humanitarian initiative in response to the war in Ukraine where 35,000 Scout volunteers mobilised across nine countries to assist more than one million Ukrainian refugees and internally displaced persons affected. Under the UAct initiative, Scouting’s efforts were supported by UNICEF through a strong partnership, providing vital psychosocial support and humanitarian relief. As Scouts, we are committed to promoting a culture of peace, dialogue, and inclusion through community service and humanitarian action. Our commitment is reflected in educational programmes, Scouting initiatives, and advocacy efforts worldwide. Reflecting our efforts, our new Strategy for Scouting for the next 10 years aims to direct the movement towards ensuring a peaceful and inclusive world, as articulated as one of its three impact statements.
