Already a star in his native Argentina, Tiago PZK made the most of his genre-hopping 2022 debut, Portales. With the even more diverse follow-up album GOTTI A, the rapper/singer further adjusts his ambition toward a more global Latin stardom. His broad hip-hop bona fides remain very much intact, particularly when vibing with repeat collaborator Trueno on the popwise “I’m Blessed.” Yet he’s increasingly interested in engaging with other sounds, resulting in balladic moments like “Griselda” to counter the furious wordplay of “Todas Las Estrellas.” Tropical rhythms drive “Adicción” and the Manuel Turizo team-up “De Vuelta,” the latter soaring via its merengue foundation and romantic theme. “Piel” bears a distinctly homegrown cumbia essence, with help from no less than the group Ke Personajes. Elsewhere, he demonstrates a knack for dance-floor fare opposite Anitta and Emilia on “Alegria” and in duo mode with Duki on the thumping “RCP.” All in all, Tiago PZK showcases so much range that there seems no style that he can’t try his hand at going forward.
