Online advertising: Prices and dimensions

All ads on our site are 300 pixels by 250 pixels. To place an ad, contact: ads@missionlocal.com.

You can select two placements on the site:

Inside a story, ads cost $300 a week. This is an inside advertisement. As you can see below, it lands in the middle of two paragraphs.

The other placement is on our home page and other landing pages. This costs $250 a week. The advertisement will be on the home page or on one of the other landing pages.

Finally, we are also selling a month’s sponsorship of our newsletter. The newsletter goes out five times a week, reaches more than 11,000 subscribers, and has a high open rate.

The placement for the logo and advertisement are illustrated in the photo below. The cost is $3,500 a month.

The advertisement here is 728 pixels x 90 pixels, but we can adjust the size.

Your ad within the newsletter goes in twice and reaches more than 11,000 people, fives times a week. This is $3,500 a month.

For political advertisements, we adhere to California’s Fair Political Practices Commission guidelines on political advertising disclaimers and subscribe to standards of editorial independence adopted by the Institute for Nonprofit News. All advertisers pay the same rates. We accept ads from all candidates in any race.

  • Political advertisements cannot be used to attack other candidates. 
  • Direct comparisons with other candidates and/or the unauthorized use of another person’s likeness are not permitted. 
  • The person or group who paid for the advertisement must be clearly identified. 
  • Direct asks for fundraising are not permitted.
  • Advertising must be truthful and not intended to mislead. 
  • Advertisers must have evidence to back up their claims.
