Mediacom Customer Activation Center

Customer Self Install
 

  1. Connect the modem to the coaxial cable.
     
  2. Connect a PC to the modem via ethernet cable.
     
  3. You should automatically be redirected to the new activation page.
     
  4. New customers will login with their billing account number and activation code or existing customers will use their Mediacom ID (modem swaps).
     


     

    IMPORTANT NOTE: We are no longer using the last 9 digits of the account number for activation.  The registration code will be printed on the Welcome Letter in the installation kit. 
     

  5. New customers will need to elect to use their personal email address or create a new Mediacom ID. (Click HERE for instructions)
     
    • Existing customers should proceed to step 8.
       


     
     

  6. If you choose to use your personal address simply enter that email, create a password, and enter a security question/answer.
     


     
     

  7. If you choose to create a new Mediacom ID you will enter a desired user name, create a password, and enter a security question/answer.
     


     
     

  8. You will then review the services to be activated, and if appropriate make entries for a SSID/password and option for anti-virus software.
     


     
     

  9. You will then need to accept the Mediacom Terms and Conditions to continue.
     


     
     

  10. Finally, activation will progress and you will be prompted with an Activation Summary once it’s complete.
     


     

 

 

Error Messages
 

In certain situations, a customer may receive an error message or informational notice regarding activation of their service.  The following scenarios may be encountered:

 

 

Auto detect of the modem has failed:
 


 

 

After accepting terms and conditions, the activation fails:
 


 

 

If the device fails to reboot automatically after activation:
 


 

 

If the modem is not on our list of lab certified devices, a warning message is displayed:
 

  • User MUST click OK on message.
     
  • Link provides a .pdf list of compatible modems.
     


 

 

If the modem will not support the subscribed to speed, a warning message is displayed:
 

  • User MUST click OK on message.
     
  • Link provides a .pdf list of compatible modems.
     


 

 

If the modem does not have a MTA and the account's products have phone service, a warning message is displayed:
 

  • User MUST click OK on message.
     


 

 

If the modem does not have a gateway and the account's products have home network service, a warning message is displayed:
 

  • User MUST click OK on message.
