Inviting a new AI assistant into the family home isn't something that tends to end well in horror films, and it looks like AFRAID will be no exception.

Unlike M3GAN, the AI in AFRAID is a bodiless, Siri-like digital home assistant made up of cameras and a robotic voice. But, as the trailer makes clear, that doesn't make it any less of a threat.

John Cho, Katherine Waterston, Havana Rose, Liu Lukita Maxwell, David Dastmalchian, and Keith Carradine star.

AFRAID is in theatres from August 30.
