Best Buy isn't the only retailer running some conveniently scheduled counter-programming to Prime Big Deal Days, Amazon's October Prime Day sale, but it is bringing some of the fiercest competition across popular tech categories, even after Prime Day has ended.

The electronics store is supplementing its monthlong holiday sneak peek event with several smaller sales — though the 48-Hour Flash Sale that ran counter to Prime Day on Oct. 10 and 11 is done, there are still more savings to be had.

What is the Best Buy sales event and when does it start?

Best Buy's savings event kicked off on Oct. 1 and is ongoing throughout the entire month. According to a press release from Best Buy, the retailer will be offering new perks every single day in Oct., including but not limited to "purchase rewards, exclusive sale events with top brands like Samsung and Microsoft, access to deeper discounts for Plus and Total members, and more."

Here's the order of the scheduled events:

What's happened so far:

  • Member exclusives: Every single day in Oct., Best Buy Total and Plus members will get access to exclusive deals and discounts across the Best Buy catalog. As an added bonus, Total and Plus members who spend at least $500 in Oct. will receive a $50 certificate to use on December purchases. Members will also get early access to select Black Friday deals from Oct. 27-29.

  • 48-Hour Flash Sale: Best Buy hosted a 48-Hour Flash sale from Oct. 10-11, and featured hundreds of deals from on big-ticket items like Apple devices and home security systems. Not to mention, it put more energy into sales on splurges like QLED TVs and laptops compared to Amazon, which typically focuses on mid-size budget 4K TVs (like Fire TVs) and sub-$100 smart home devices.

Up next:

  • Exclusive Samsung and Microsoft sales: Being a non-Apple-user pays off sometimes, huh? During Oct., Best Buy will be partnering with tech giants Samsung and Microsoft for two special sale events. The former has already taken place from Oct. 6-8, but the latter will be on from Oct. 13-15. For the Microsoft event, shoppers will have access to exclusive offers on Xbox and Windows products, including savings of up to $500 on Windows laptops.

  • Weekend gaming event: Finally, Best Buy will also be holding a weekend gaming event from Oct. 20-22 with sweet deals on hardware, games, and accessories.

As you can see, this sale isn't a subscribers-only affair like Amazon's festivities, though paid members of its My Best Buy rewards program receive exclusive access to special offers and better discounts on certain items (among other perks).

Here are some deals live now ahead of the Microsoft sale and gaming event as part of the month-long sales event:

Why we like it

This TCL TV is a Best Buy exclusive, but even if it wasn't, this $350 sale price would be hard to match. Though it's not quite as low as the $330 flash sale price, simply put: Mid-sized, current-year QLED models don't often get this cheap.

Why we like it

The 15.6-inch Samsung Galaxy Book3 360 is a premium 2-in-1 laptop that boasts a 13th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, a pretty AMOLED touchscreen, and an impressive 22-hour battery life. Best Buy has the 1TB configuration listed for $1,099.99 (normally $1,549.99), making it just $50 more than the 512GB model.

The Apple Watch SE is $30 off and back down to its lowest price ever. The budget-friendly smartwatch is a great pick for anyone who doesn't need the full range of fitness features. It typically doesn't go on sale for $30 off too often — case in point, Amazon has already bumped the price back up on the 40mm watches.

Why we like it

Nintendo traditionally releases its Switch holiday bundles around Black Friday, but this year they arrived early on Friday, Oct. 6 — right in time for Prime Big Deal Days and all competing sales. This bundle includes the original (non-OLED) Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a three-month membership to Nintendo Switch Online (a $367.97 combined value) for the price of the console itself.

Why we like it

The last time the Google Nest Thermostat went on sale was during Amazon's flagship Prime Day sale in July, so if you've been waiting for the right time to buy, it's now. This device lets you control the temp of your home with your phone or your voice, and it automatically sets to Eco mode when you leave the house to maximize your energy savings. Best of all, it's easy to install by yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

If regular online shopping hasn't been cutting it for you, Best Buy is doubling down on offering other ways to finalize your holiday purchases:

  • Experience stores: This holiday season, Best Buy will be opening up over 50 "Experience stores," which are said to "bring shoppers the ultimate shopping experience with immersive demo areas, new product categories, luxury appliances, and more."

  • Best Buy Drops: Best Buy is introducing something new this year in the form of "Drops." Exclusively through the Best Buy app, the retailer will be releasing limited-time (and limited-quantity) deals for you to quickly grab, from gaming consoles to smart home products, and more. The first drop goes live on Sept. 27 ($70 off an Apple Watch Ultra 2), with multiple others coming almost every week.

  • Outlet stores: Best Buy has more than 20 outlet stores across the U.S. that offer open-box and clearance items for even more savings. Some outlet products can be ordered online at BestBuy.com/Outlet.

  • Traditional and virtual stores: And if you want to go the IRL route, you can visit your local Best Buy store or the online storefront to shop those Oct. savings drops.

Luckily, Best Buy will be offering big savings on shipping fees throughout the holiday season, in addition to same-day shipping for $9.99 ($4.99 for Best Buy Plus and Total members), and free next-day delivery on a wide variety of products. (My Best Buy members can get free standard shipping on all purchases, and Best Buy Plus and Total members get free two-day shipping.) Best Buy also offers convenient curbside and in-store pickup options for those who prefer it.
