After being inadvertently humiliated by Spider-Man, J. Jonah Jameson declared Spider-Man a menace and asked Kraven the Hunter to hunt Spider-Man for him.^[1] Kraven was intrigued by the challenge and with the help of his kids began tracking and observing Spider-Man. After Jameson became impatient and demanded results, Kraven reimbursed all his expenses and proceeded to hunt Spider-Man his way, seeking proper challenge. Seeing Spider-Man as the "alpha" of his pack, Kraven separated him from Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales to fight him one-on-one.^[2] Kraven attempted to muddle Spider-Man's senses with the fruit of the African yimfama tree, but Spider-Man turned the tables on him by stealing Kraven's vest and hitting him with the yimfama gas as well, easily apprehending him. Afterwards, Kraven and his children were arrested after being caught trafficking contraband vibranium from Wakanda.^[3]
