The elderly N'Gassi acted as functionary and close colleague to King T'Challa, the super-hero known as the Black Panther and ruler of the sovereign nation of Wakanda. During times when affairs called T'Challa out of the country, N'Gassi acted as regent in his stead. When T'Challa's half-brother, Jakarra, transformed into an inhuman monster and began running amok throughout the central districts, N'Gassi coordinated his efforts with the royal family in the hopes of either finding the Black Panther, or selecting a dutiful replacement to carry on the title.^[1]
